What tests should be done before pediatric hernia surgery?

Many parents do not know that they need to undergo an examination before their children undergo hernia surgery, because many people do not usually have knowledge in this area, which means they do not understand this knowledge at all. If parents do not have this knowledge, it may delay some things for their children, and this is not good for the conditioning of their children's bodies, so it is very necessary for parents to understand this knowledge.

1. Hernias in children may occur days, months or years after birth.

2. Usually when a child is crying, exercising vigorously, or has dry stools, there will be a protruding lump in the groin, which sometimes extends to the scrotum or labia area; it will disappear on its own when the child lies flat or is pressed with the hands.

3. Once the hernia becomes incarcerated (the hernia mass cannot be reduced), abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, fever, anorexia or crying and irritability will occur.

4. If the tumor cannot be returned to the abdominal cavity, abdominal pain will intensify, crying will continue, and then vomiting, abdominal distension, difficulty defecation and other intestinal obstruction symptoms will appear. An oval tumor can be seen in the groin or scrotum, with a hard texture and obvious tenderness. If the intestine is incarcerated for a long time, the skin will be red and swollen. If the intestine cannot be returned for a long time, serious complications such as intestinal ischemia and necrosis may occur.

Inguinal hernia is common in children under one year old. If it occurs, there will be a bulging lump in the groin, which can be easily found with a little vigilance. If a child exhibits the following behaviors, it should be taken seriously.

1. Unexplained crying and fussing may be caused by hernia and incarceration;

2. Severe vomiting and fever; the possibility of pediatric hernia with incarceration should be considered;

3. Intestinal obstruction; the possibility of pediatric hernia with incarceration should be considered;

4. If blood is found in the stool, the possibility of pediatric hernia with incarceration should be considered.

Be sure to carefully explore for inguinal hernia; of course, also ask a doctor to check for other diseases.

Therefore, it is very necessary to do an examination before the child undergoes hernia surgery. Parents cannot ignore this point. If you ignore it, it is likely to have a certain impact on your child, which is not the result you want to see. Therefore, when you encounter this kind of problem in the future, you must have a comprehensive understanding so that your child can get better as soon as possible.
