What to do if your baby has phlegm

What to do if your baby has phlegm

We will find that many children always clear their throats and have hoarse throats when they speak. This symptom is phlegm in the throat. There may be several factors causing phlegm in the throat. The most common one is that the children are not given water in time or the throat is not cleared properly, which will lead to the phlegm in the throat not being cleared. These methods can be used to relieve the problem.

Pat the back

method:

1. Let the baby lie down slightly lower or without a pillow, lying on the side;

2. Put a layer of clothes on the baby or take off the top and put a cloth or clothes on the back. Remember not to pat the back directly, which may damage the baby's skin;

3. Place one hand on the baby's belly to prevent the belly from getting uncomfortable when patting the back;

4. Use your other hand to pat the baby's back from top to bottom. Don't be too hard. Remember to pat from top to bottom and don't reverse. It will take about 15 minutes on one side.

Tips:

The palm of your hand is empty, so instead of hitting the back, you should pat the baby's back. This will only cause pain and will not be effective. 15 minutes on one side is enough, more than that will not help. Patting the back with one hand sometimes requires both hands, so it is best for two parents to be present. Remember to tap from top to bottom and not the other way around. Focus on tapping the lungs, but don't be too hard.

Note:

Babies may not like being patted on the back, especially if they are too young. They may cry and refuse to be patted, or even kick their feet and refuse to be patted on the back. In this case, two parents should be present at the same time, one to pat the back and the other to help hold down the hands and feet to prevent them from moving. Don’t be fooled by the baby’s smile. The baby is very strong, and if he cries, the mother will probably feel soft-hearted. But you must not be soft-hearted. It is best to let the father and other family members be together. In any case, you must not be soft-hearted. But you also cannot let the baby continue to cry, especially when you pat the back, as crying can easily cause phlegm to be held in, which can be troublesome.

Try to make your baby happy and don’t lose your patience. He will stop crying after you pat him a few times. Also, don’t pat his back when his heart rate is fast, as he may have a cold! It is better to take the baby to the hospital to have a look by the doctor. Also, do not pat the baby's back right after eating or drinking milk. Wait half an hour before patting the baby. The reason for lying lower is to prevent the baby from nausea and vomiting food.

Taking expectorant:

Fuxx brand expectorant is specially made for babies. Use warm water to dissolve the granules. Because it tastes good like fruit juice, babies generally won't refuse it. Two to three times a day, two bags each time. Of course, it depends on the age of the baby. Generally, it is three times a day, two bags each time. It should be noted that this only dissolves the phlegm. If the baby is too young and cannot cough up phlegm, it will be more troublesome. Although this can dissolve the phlegm into water;

To eat steamed pear with Sichuan Fritillary Bulbs:

If your baby is old enough to start eating complementary foods, you can give him steamed pear with Fritillaria cirrhosa powder. Sichuan Fritillary Bulbs has a bitter taste, which goes perfectly with the sweet pear. I believe the baby will accept this taste. Although this method is slower, it is still very effective in reducing phlegm and is worthy of recommendation. There is also no major harm in taking it for a long time.
