What are the causes of drool rash in children?

Nowadays, most families have a baby. The whole family loves the baby very much and would not let the child suffer any grievance. However, when caring for the child, especially during infancy, the child will always have some drool rash. What is going on? Whenever this phenomenon occurs, it always makes mothers feel distressed. Let me introduce the situation of drool rash to you below!

The red patches that appear around the mouth are collectively called eczema. It is also called drool rash because newborns saliva a lot, which stays around the lips for too long and causes inflammation. Saliva contains digestive enzymes, which play a role in digestion in the human body. However, if these enzymes stay on the skin surface for too long, the skin's stratum corneum will gradually be broken down and become dry. In addition, the baby's skin is relatively delicate and tender, so it is easy to cause skin inflammation.

Except for the teething stage, during other periods when the baby is drinking breast milk or formula milk, once the baby's mouth secretes a large amount of saliva, it is a period of time when drool rash is prone to occur. Because each baby's growth schedule is different, the most common age of onset may range from 4 to 6 months or 7 to 8 months. Usually around 1 year old, when the baby's teeth gradually grow and begin to be exposed to many complementary foods, the large amount of saliva secretion will gradually slow down, and the inflammation of drool rash will occur less and less.

Long-term use of a pacifier may cause candida infection and rashes! But it should be noted that in addition to drool rash, there are other reasons that can cause redness around the baby's mouth. The drool rash caused by saliva will appear as a red and flat area around the mouth or chin. Another reason that can cause a similar condition is that the baby uses a pacifier for a long time, which causes the skin around the mouth to rub against the pacifier due to sucking.

After reading the above text, I believe many mothers have understood the origin of drool rash. If a child has this phenomenon, be sure to pay attention to timely treatment, because drool rash makes the child feel very uncomfortable, it is easy to cause the child to cry, and in severe cases it may affect the child's eating.
