Why do children often sweat?

Many times we are very worried about the physical health of our children, fearing that some problems may affect their future health. In order to prevent our children from getting hurt, we must pay more attention to their bodies in our lives. Children often sweat, but many people are worried that this may be a problem. Let us discuss this phenomenon in detail below.

It is common for babies to sweat during sleep, and it is not always a symptom of weakness or illness. Many mothers think that their babies are weak and therefore sweat constantly. In fact, a considerable number of babies suffer from physiological hyperhidrosis. Physiological hyperhidrosis is more common in the head and neck, often occurring within half an hour after falling asleep, and sweating stops in about an hour. Babies who sweat a lot while sleeping do not need treatment. If accompanied by symptoms such as easy fright, inactivity, bone deformities, etc., rickets should be considered. Appropriate examinations should be done to confirm the condition and active treatment should be given, such as a reasonable diet, increased nutrition, vitamin supplements, appropriate increase in outdoor activities, and vitamin D and calcium supplements.

1. The baby's physique is in the development stage, the muscles and skin are still very weak, and it is easier to sweat than adults. If the baby is just sweating a small amount, growing and developing well, and is energetic, without other symptoms, it is a normal phenomenon. On the contrary, if the baby does not sweat at all, you should consider that there is a problem with sweat excretion.

2. If you sweat too much and have other symptoms, you should consider whether you are sick. When a baby sweats, it may manifest as sweating on the hands and feet, sweating on the chest and heart, sweating on half of the body, spontaneous sweating, night sweats, etc.

3. Night sweats are also called sleep sweats. Sweating occurs during sleep and stops after waking up. Generally, children's night sweats are caused by yin deficiency and heat disturbance, which makes it impossible for the heart fluid to be retained. But what we see is that not long after the child falls asleep, he or she sweats a lot on the head, chest, back, etc., often soaking the pillowcase, pajamas, etc. This is because the child's body temperature rises as soon as he falls asleep. At this time, night sweats are very obvious in children who sweat a lot. This is a physiological phenomenon.

4. Babies who sweat a lot usually experience night sweats in March, April or November. But they have one common characteristic, that is, night sweats only occur before 12 o'clock at night (that is, the first half of the night), and the sweating will stop automatically in the second half of the night. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that babies have strong yang energy and their yin energy has not yet reached its peak in the first half of the night, so they will sweat. In the second half of the night, the yin energy gradually increases and suppresses the yang energy in the baby's body from escaping. Therefore, in the second half of the night, the baby's sweat will naturally be recovered.

5. When your baby sweats due to illness, in addition to asking a doctor for examination and treatment, you can also choose appropriate dietary adjustments at home.

6. At home, if the mother still can't tell what kind of symptoms the baby's sweating belongs to, she can conclude that spontaneous sweating is mostly due to yang deficiency, while night sweats are mostly due to yin deficiency. Therefore, in terms of dietary conditioning, you can replenish Yang Qi according to spontaneous sweating and eat foods that strengthen the spleen and replenish Qi; for night sweats, you can eat foods that nourish Yin deficiency and promote yin and body fluid production.

I hope the above article will be helpful to everyone. At the same time, we should also pay more attention to the baby’s physical health so as to deal with some health problems in a timely manner. It is normal for babies to sweat a lot when sleeping, because their sweat glands are well developed and their growth and development are vigorous. The secretion of sweat glands is controlled by the autonomic nervous system. After falling asleep, the vagus nerve becomes excited, causing excessive sweating, usually more on the head and face, but it will ease within one or two hours after falling asleep.
