Why do children keep blinking?

There are many reasons why children keep blinking, such as eye inflammation or the need to take the child to the hospital for a vision test to see if the eyes are nearsighted. Generally, blinking once every three seconds is the most normal. Blinking is a very normal behavior, but excessive blinking should be taken seriously. Give the eyes proper rest. Excessive eye fatigue can also cause frequent blinking. The eyes are the windows to the soul and need to be taken good care of. Eat more green foods.

Common reasons why children blink frequently:

1. Inflammation: This is the most common cause, which may be caused by bacteria, viruses, chlamydia and other infections, such as conjunctivitis, keratitis, etc.

2. Congenital inverted eyelids and trichiasis: Some children have congenital inverted eyelids (medically called eyelids), which causes the eyelashes to fall on the surface of the eyeball, irritating the cornea (the surface of the black eyeball) and causing tears.

3. ADHD in children: refers to the sudden, involuntary contraction of a part of the child's body, such as blinking, wrinkling forehead, crooked mouth, shrugging shoulders, etc., inattention and hyperactive behavior changes.

4. Eye fatigue blinking: including visual fatigue, such as refractive error, especially hyperopia, myopia, astigmatism caused by uncorrected eye visual fatigue.

5. Neurogenic blinking: This is caused by the frequent contraction of the nerve fibers that control the orbicularis oculi muscle after being stimulated.

.6 Habitual blinking: Some children have a history of frequent blinking due to one of the above causes. After treatment, even after the cause is eliminated, they still retain the habit of frequent blinking.

7. Childhood tics: Children with tics often show sudden, involuntary contraction movements of certain parts of the body, such as frowning, twisted mouth, shrugging shoulders and inattention. Some children will also make strange noises, or even swear and use dirty words at the same time. This condition is medically called childhood attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and foul language syndrome. Frequent blinking is also a manifestation of tics, which is related to mental factors such as mental tension and emotional instability. This disease seriously affects children's normal life, study and mental health.

I hope the above is helpful to everyone. We should cultivate good eye habits for children. They should not stare at the computer screen for too long. They should use their eyes in moderation and give their eyes some time to rest. They should not rub their eyes with their hands. There is another reason. Some children have the habit of constantly blinking their eyes and twisting their mouths. This is a psychological effect and you need to take your child to consult a doctor. This situation is also very common.
