Can teething cause diarrhea in babies?

Can teething cause diarrhea in babies?

Normally speaking, teething is a normal phenomenon for children and it will not cause diarrhea in babies. However, if the baby has diarrhea, it may be due to indigestion, but it may also be due to a cold or bacterial infection. After all, the baby's immune function is not yet perfect. So what are the causes of diarrhea in babies? How should we treat diarrhea?

1. Temperature can also cause diarrhea in babies. A cold abdomen can speed up intestinal peristalsis and aggravate diarrhea, so pay attention to the baby's temperature.

2. Breastfeeding mothers should pay attention to their diet and avoid eating greasy, indigestible, or cold food.

3. If you are feeding your baby with milk powder, you can dilute the formula milk. Add 10 ml of water to each spoonful of milk powder on the first two days. Add 5 ml of water after 3 or 4 days when the symptoms improve. Return to the normal proportion on 5 or 6 days. Let your baby drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration. You can also feed your baby some apple water to stop diarrhea.

4. Pay attention to the color of your baby's stool. If the baby's stool contains mucus, pus, and blood, and the baby's spirit and appetite are poor, and the urine volume is reduced, seek medical attention in time and give appropriate drug treatment based on the stool test results.

Treatment measures:

1. Give some fresh fruit juice or mashed bananas to supplement potassium; feed freshly prepared foods that are well cooked, ground or mashed; encourage the child to eat at least 6 times a day; continue to feed the child the above foods after the diarrhea stops; and add meals at least once a day within two weeks after the diarrhea stops until the weight returns to normal.

2. Drug treatment

If a child's diarrhea does not improve after 3 days or if the following symptoms occur, take the child to see a doctor: ① Frequent watery stools. ② Frequent vomiting. ③Obviously thirsty. ④ Unable to eat normally. ⑤Fever. ⑥ Blood in the stool.

3. Treatment remedies

When children have diarrhea, if they are given carrot puree in several doses while taking medication, it will help them recover. Take an appropriate amount of fresh carrots, wash and chop them, add water and cook them until they are soft, then take out the carrots and mash them into a paste (keep the water from boiling the carrots for later use). When eating, add 5 to 10 grams (about one teaspoon) of carrot puree to every 100 ml of water used to boil carrots. The amount of food intake mainly depends on the child's appetite, and can be fed according to the usual amount. Generally speaking, children's stools will become formed after feeding them carrot puree for 2 to 3 days.

4. Home care

Replenish water in time to prevent and correct dehydration.

Therefore, after hearing the above news, as parents, you must always pay attention to your baby's physical health and excretion conditions. If you find anything wrong, you must go to the hospital in time. After all, children are very fragile compared to adults and need attention.
