Analysis of normal progesterone value in IVF

Analysis of normal progesterone value in IVF

What is the normal value of progesterone in IVF? What are the differences between the various indicators of IVF and those of normally conceived babies? What is unique about in vitro fertilization? What should we do when facing test-tube babies? What is the difference between the development of a test-tube baby and that of a normal baby? Let’s take a look at the normal value of progesterone in test-tube babies.

A concept

In our country, people often refer to "in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer" (IVF-ET) as "test-tube baby." In fact, in vitro fertilization is a special technology that takes both eggs and sperm outside the body, allows them to complete the fertilization process in an artificially controlled environment outside the body, and then transplants the early embryo into the woman's uterus to grow into a child. Babies created using in vitro fertilization technology are called test-tube babies, and these children also grow inside the mother's womb. It can be said that "test tube baby technology" is equivalent to "in vitro fertilization".

Binary classification

1. Conventional in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer technology;

2. Intracytoplasmic sperm injection technique;

3. Preimplantation embryo genetic diagnosis technology.

Progesterone

Normal reference value of progesterone:

HCG (IU/L) in weeks of pregnancy

0.2-1 week 5-50

1-2 weeks 50-500

2-3 weeks 100-5000

3-4 weeks 500-10000

4-5 weeks 1000-50000

5-6 weeks 10,000-100,000

6-8 weeks 15,000-200,000

February-March 10,000-100,000

4.1. How to supplement the low progesterone level in early pregnancy?

If progesterone is lower than normal, the uterus will be more active and miscarriage is more likely to occur. Therefore, when the progesterone level is low, doctors will generally prescribe some progesterone supplements, but these drugs are divided into natural and non-natural types. Therefore, women in early pregnancy are reminded not to buy them at the pharmacy by themselves, because if they take non-natural progesterone supplements without knowing it, it may cause irreparable damage, and how long they need to take the supplements should also be based on the doctor's advice.

2. Is it harmful to take too much progesterone?

If the progesterone level is within the normal range, there is no need to supplement progesterone, because excessive hormone supplementation may cause problems to the fetus. As the saying goes, "all medicines are poisonous", expectant mothers must use progesterone with caution.

The use of progesterone to maintain pregnancy is very limited. Progesterone is a progestin, which is useful for threatened abortion caused by insufficient corpus luteum secretion and progesterone deficiency, but first it is necessary to find out whether there is a progesterone deficiency. Using large amounts of progesterone in early pregnancy can increase the risk of fetal malformations of the spine, anus, limbs, etc. by 8 times. If synthetic progestins are used (such as norethindrone, which has a masculinizing effect), about 18% of female fetuses will become masculinized, which is an unfortunate outcome.

After reading the above information on progesterone in IVF, the principles for the high and low levels of progesterone in IVF are consistent with ordinary treatments. Progesterone still plays a certain role and cannot be lacking, otherwise it will cause irreparable harm to the baby's health. Pregnant women must consider the baby's health status before taking any medication, and the result is a healthy and happy baby. So pregnant mothers, cheer up.
