What causes the baby to not sleep at night?

What causes a one-month-old baby not to sleep at night? Some babies are still in a very excited state at night. Why don't babies sleep? First of all, you should pay attention to whether it is affected by the environment, or whether it sleeps too long during the day. These are all things to pay attention to. In short, you should let your baby sleep as soon as possible. It is not okay not to sleep at night.

When in the mother's womb, the fetus cannot tell the difference between day and night because it is always dark inside the uterus. However, right after birth, they are faced with the issue of day and night. In the process of millions of years of evolution, humans have developed a working habit of being active during the day and sleeping at day, so parents hope that their babies can adjust their biological clocks to match their parents' work and rest schedules. But the reality is not so.

If a baby doesn't sleep at night and cries and wants to be held by an adult, it is mostly due to psychological factors. It is an inevitable phenomenon in the growth stage. As the baby's mind develops, he gradually needs someone to stimulate and play with him. It's just that the time chosen by the baby is not suitable for adults. Noise in the middle of the night is really frustrating for parents. If this habit is not corrected in time, it may continue and seriously affect the parents' rest and work. In addition to poor sleeping habits, there are two physiological factors that cause night crying:

(1) Hunger and wet diapers: Young parents often sleep too deeply at night and are difficult to wake up because they are overworked during the day. When a baby is hungry at night or has a wet diaper, he or she will often wake up the mother by crying loudly. Over time, this will become a conditioned reflex, leading to night crying disorder. If it is caused by hunger, the baby will often suck in the intervals between crying, and the crying will stop as long as they are fed; if it is caused by wet diapers or uncomfortable body position, the crying will stop when the conditions improve.

(2) Rickets: Due to the lack of vitamin D, calcium and phosphorus metabolism are disturbed and blood calcium is reduced, which is medically known as hypocalcemia. Because low blood calcium puts the nervous system in an excited state, the child may show mild symptoms such as irritability, crying, being annoying, and being frightened, or even have convulsions in severe cases. Once you find that your child has these symptoms, you should take the child to the hospital to check whether he or she has the disease. If the diagnosis is clear, you should start treatment in time, give intramuscular injections of vitamin D3, and take calcium supplements at the same time. Children should be exposed to the sun more often, because ultraviolet rays can make the skin automatically produce vitamin D.

If the above two factors can be ruled out, poor sleep at night is mostly caused by poor sleeping habits. Therefore, for the benefit of both the baby and the parents, the baby's habit of not sleeping at night must be corrected as soon as possible. However, the baby's biological clock cannot be adjusted in a short period of time. Parents can use the following methods to gradually adjust:

(1) Reduce the time your baby sleeps during the day. You can play with the baby, or put the baby in a well-lit place to make it difficult for him to fall asleep; wake up the baby once every two hours of sleep, and don't rush to feed him after he wakes up, but play with him for half an hour first. When the baby wakes up during the day, he may cry and make a fuss, or fall asleep again in a blink of an eye. Therefore, you must not let his visual and auditory organs idle after he wakes up. You can play him some light-tempo music, shake a rattle in his ears, and show him colorful toys, balloons or pictures. The best way to wake your baby is to pat or tap the soles of his feet. But don't pat, hug or rock your baby, otherwise he will fall asleep again quickly and easily develop a bad habit of being held as soon as he cries. At night, try to dim the lights and make the environment quiet so that you can feel comfortable and sleep well.

(2) You can use some sleeping pills. Communicate with your pediatrician and use non-addictive sedatives to give your baby an appropriate amount at night to help him or her sleep well. It will only take about a week for your baby's sleeping habits to be adjusted.

It is abnormal for a one-month-old baby not to sleep at night. The mother should find ways to make her baby fall asleep as soon as possible. After the baby falls asleep, she should keep quiet and not let the baby sleep restlessly. Many babies are easily frightened, so the mother should pay attention to ensure the baby's sleep quality and not let the baby be affected.
