Many mothers choose to give their children massage, and massage is indeed effective in relieving cough, but some mothers are very anxious because their baby's cough becomes more severe after massage. There is a recovery period for colds and coughs. If it becomes more serious, don't be too anxious. Just listen to the doctor's advice.

1. Phlegm stagnation stage:

Dry cough. At this time, the baby does not have the energy to expel viral waste from the body, so professional pediatric massage is needed to regulate the body's functions smoothly. Some babies will feel that their coughing is significantly reduced after massage. If the coughing worsens, it is normal because it is a process and it cannot be cured in one go.

2. Expectorant stage:

When we continue to use pediatric massage techniques to slowly clear the meridians, the baby's body will have more power to expel harmful waste, so something like phlegm will appear. To put it bluntly, phlegm is actually the baby's waste excretion.

Therefore, in clinical practice, the treatment of children's cough generally has three stages:

First stage:

Mild cough, dry cough stage, that is, the initial stage of cough, at this time no sputum sound can be heard. After several massages, you can start to hear obvious sputum sounds, which means the baby starts to expectorate. At this time, the baby is coughing.

Second stage:

The expectoration period usually lasts for 3 to 5 days. You can hear the child's throat gurgling and the phlegm comes out as soon as he coughs it up, which means the cough is almost healed.

The third stage:

During the sputum elimination period, when all the sputum is discharged, the child will be fine. At this time, the main focus is on clearing the lungs and relieving cough.

If during the conditioning period, parents give their children cough medicine out of anxiety, they will see that the child's cough has obviously subsided, and the adults will think that the child has recovered, but the child will start coughing again not long after, and the cough will become even more severe. That’s because many cough medicines have an antitussive effect, which makes the body unable to carry out an immune rejection reaction, and forces the waste that the baby was supposed to excrete to remain. Will this be good for the baby’s body?

Avoid cold food

It is not advisable to drink cold or frozen drinks when you have a cough. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that once the body is exposed to cold, the lungs will be damaged, and coughs are mostly caused by lung diseases. If you drink cold drinks at this time, it will easily cause lung qi blockage, aggravate the symptoms, and will not heal over time. Second taboo: fatty and sweet food

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that cough is mostly caused by lung heat, especially in children. Eating too much fatty, sweet and greasy food in your daily diet will cause internal heat and aggravate your cough. In addition, it is not advisable to eat too much fried food. Because fried foods will increase the burden on the gastrointestinal tract, produce phlegm, and make coughs difficult to cure.

Three taboos: fish, shrimp and crab

Children with cough will have their cough aggravated after eating fishy foods, which is related to the fishy smell irritating the respiratory tract and the allergy to the protein in fish and shrimp foods. Children who are allergic to certain fish or eggs should be especially careful to avoid these foods.

Four taboos: sweet and sour food

Fifth taboo: eating oranges
