Reasons why children cough at night

Many young mothers do not have much common sense when it comes to taking care of their children, and they are at a loss as to what to do when their children often have some physical conditions. For example, a young child coughs while sleeping at night, especially if the child has some symptoms of a cold or fever, which can cause parents to worry too much. So let us understand what to do next?

A wide variety of causes of cough

(1) Foreign matter in the airway or esophagus

This problem can occur in children of any age, but it is more likely in young children who are confused and ignorant. Foreign objects in the airway will certainly cause coughing, and foreign objects in the esophagus will also cause coughing if they compress the trachea.

(ii) Aspiration tracheitis pneumonia

If your baby's cough is caused by aspiration tracheitis or pneumonia, the most important thing is to find out the cause. Fistula between the trachea and esophagus, obvious gastroesophageal reflux, uncoordinated swallowing or neuromuscular disease may all cause inhalation respiratory tract infection.

(III) Gastroesophageal reflux

Symptoms of coughing usually begin in the neonatal period or early infancy. Sometimes special photographic examinations or acid-base measurements at the lower end of the esophagus are needed to help with the diagnosis.

Treatment methods include posture management, feeding small meals frequently, medication control, or surgical treatment when necessary.

4. Laryngeal weakness

In addition to wheezing, some of these babies will also cough. Wheezing and coughing often occur or become more severe when the body is supine and are relieved when the body is prone.

(V) Coughing during feeding

If such symptoms occur in newborns or infants, the possibility of aortic arch malformation or tracheoesophageal fistula must be considered. These problems can be diagnosed with the help of special iron salt photography.

(VI) Postnasal drip

Children with a chronic cough and postnasal drip often have allergies. These children often suffer from allergic rhinitis, sinusitis or asthma.

From the article, we learned that young children cough while sleeping at night. This is a phenomenon caused by not replenishing enough water on a regular basis. It is still recommended that mothers replenish their children with water in time and give them more water, which will be helpful in treating cough.
