What to do if your child has ear pain in the middle of the night

Sometimes our children may have ear pain in the middle of the night, which makes us parents very anxious. Ear pain in children in the middle of the night is a symptom of otitis media. Of course, it may also be that the milk pours into the ears when the children are not paying attention while feeding. So what should you do if your child has ear pain in the middle of the night? Let’s take a look at what is the solution to this problem.

In this case, the baby is likely to have otitis media. If you breastfeed your baby while lying down, milk can easily flow into the ear through the Eustachian tube, causing inflammation and suppuration of the middle ear. This situation must be treated promptly, otherwise it will become a chronic disease, easily relapse, and even affect hearing. Go to the ENT department for a check-up!

Otitis media is a common disease that occurs mostly in children under 8 years old, but can also occur in other age groups. It can often be caused by an upper respiratory tract infection (such as a cold) or water in the ear, and often causes symptoms such as hearing loss and fluid accumulation in the tympanic cavity. Because children do not know how to express themselves, they are often ignored by their parents. As a parent, you should pay attention to the following symptoms of otitis media: 1. Mild ear pain and a feeling of blockage in the ear, which is the most obvious symptom. 2. Hearing loss:

As hearing gradually deteriorates, your own voice may become louder. Hearing may temporarily improve if you turn your head. 3. Intermittent tinnitus, like the sound of water flowing. This is a more common treatment method. Doctors use antibiotic aqueous solution and other drugs to treat otitis media according to the condition of the disease. 2. Surgical treatment: An incision needs to be made in front of or behind the ear, the diseased tissue is removed under a microscope, the eardrum is repaired, the external auditory canal is then filled with soft glue, and finally the wound is sutured. 3. Endoscopic minimally invasive technology: This is a popular key technology. Compared with traditional surgical equipment, endoscopes have the characteristics of a wide field of view and flexible operation, making the surgery faster and safer, with smaller incisions and a higher success rate.

There is long-term persistent pus discharge from the ear with a peculiar foul odor, and marginal perforation in the posterior and superior part of the flaccid or tense part of the tympanic membrane. From the perforation, grayish-white scaly or bean dregs-like substances can be seen in the tympanic cavity, which have a terrible odor.

Generally, there is more severe conductive hearing loss. If the lesion spreads to the cochlea, the hearing loss will be mixed. CT examination can determine the extent of the lesion and guide surgery.

Treatment: For cholesteatoma otitis media, drug treatment alone is not helpful. Drugs can only temporarily relieve pain but cannot completely cure the disease. If you want to treat the symptoms and the root cause, you need surgical treatment. The most critical factor in curing cholesteatoma otitis media is to use surgery to eliminate the detached epithelium in the middle ear.

It turns out that otitis media can cause our children to have ear pain in the middle of the night. This is a very serious phenomenon. Ear pain is very torturous for our children. The above treatments can treat children's ear pain in the middle of the night. We must protect our ears in life, so that otitis media can stay away from our children.
