What are the items of the baby's 42-day physical examination?

Babies need regular physical examinations from the time they are born until they grow up. Parents may be unfamiliar with their children’s first physical examination. In the following article, let’s learn about the baby’s 42-day physical examination and what the process is like!

42 days after delivery, not only the mother needs to be checked, but the baby also needs to be checked. The 42-day health check-up is a monitoring of the newborn baby’s existing condition, and it can also play a vital guiding role in the baby’s future healthy upbringing. The baby's examination items mainly include routine examination and neurological examination:

Routine examination

1. Measure height (should increase by 4 to 6 cm)

2. Weight (should increase by about 1000 grams)

3. Head circumference (should increase by 2 to 3 cm);

4. Cardiopulmonary examination (listen to the heartbeat and lung breathing to see if they are normal)

Neurologic examination

1. Motor development ability

Head upright - help your baby sit up, hold his arms and make him sit upright, and see if he can use the strength of his neck to keep his shaking head upright.

Lie your baby on his stomach and see if he can lift his head using the strength of his shoulders and neck.

2. Neuroreflex test

Disappearance of birth reflexes - such as the cuddle reflex, rooting reflex, and grasping reflex - these reflexes should disappear within 3 months after the baby is born. The disappearance of these reflexes is a manifestation of brain development. If the brain does not continue to develop, these reflexes will remain. Therefore, the disappearance of birth reflexes is an indicator of brain development.

Establishment of behavioral reflexes - see if the baby can concentrate, look at people, and follow favorite objects.

In the above article, we learned about the 42-day physical examination items for babies. First of all, the physical examination items for children can determine whether the child’s body is well developed and normal, especially pediatric jaundice, which can check whether the child’s body can develop healthily.
