Why does the baby's bottom turn red?

Why does the baby's bottom turn red?

The baby's skin is always so tender that people can't help but want to touch it, but some careful mothers will find that their children's buttocks are red. What's going on? Do all infants' buttocks become red or is this just an exception? So, if the baby's buttocks are red, what should we do as parents?

1. Mild diaper rash

Mild diaper rash is also called buttock redness, which means that the blood vessels in the skin of the perineum, around the anus, buttocks, and outer thighs become congested and red.

2. Moderate diaper rash

If moderate diaper rash continues to develop, exudate will appear and gradually increase, followed by epidermal exfoliation and formation of superficial ulcers. It may be accompanied by erythema and papules.

3. Severe diaper rash

Severe diaper rash can develop into deeper ulcers or even bedsores if not treated promptly. The rash may extend outward to the inner thighs or abdominal wall. Due to skin damage, bacteria can easily multiply and cause local infection. In severe cases, bacteria invade the blood from the infected area and cause sepsis.

Why are babies prone to diaper rash in summer?

1. Babies are prone to diaper rash if mothers do not take proper care of them

1) Diapers are not changed in time

Babies' food is mainly liquid, which is absorbed and excreted quickly. The baby needs to urinate about 10 to 14 times a day. After each urination, especially at night when the diaper is wet but not changed in time, the irritating components in the urine will irritate the delicate skin of the baby's buttocks and cause local dermatitis.

2) Not cleaning after defecation

Newborns have loose stools and large amounts of stool. Breastfed newborns usually have 4 to 5 bowel movements a day. Because of the diaper, feces often cover the baby's entire buttocks. If you only wipe away the feces without washing the buttocks, diaper rash will occur when the diaper is put on again in a moist and irritating environment.

3) Incorrect buttocks cleaning method

Improper cleaning methods are an important cause of diaper dermatitis. If you wash your baby's butt with clean water every time, the natural sebum protective film on the baby's butt will be washed away if you do it too many times, and the baby will also be prone to diaper rash. Moreover, some parents use the same wet towel to wipe the baby's buttocks many times, and the dirt and bacteria on the towel take advantage of the opportunity to enter and aggravate the red buttocks.

4) The diaper is rough and has poor water absorption

If the diapers prepared for babies with delicate skin are rough or made of chemical fiber cloth, their water absorption performance is particularly poor, making the local skin more moist. When wiping the buttocks, the rough movements and the hardness of the diaper can damage the skin, making diaper rash more likely to occur.

2. The skin is too thin and not wear-resistant

Studies have shown that a baby's skin is only 1/10 of an adult's skin and is easily damaged by friction. In addition, the immune system has not yet fully developed, the resistance is weak, and it is easy to have allergies when stimulated.

Taking good care of their children is every parent’s greatest wish, but it is also because of this wish that many parents worry about them. The above introduces some reasons why babies’ buttocks turn red. I hope it can help you. Here, the editor also sends his sincere blessings and hopes that everyone can live a happy and fulfilling life.
