Is fluid therapy effective for pediatric enteritis?

Many children suffer from enteritis problems, which seriously affects their physical health. Therefore, these patients need timely treatment to ensure their physical health, avoid the situation where enteritis affects their physical health, and avoid worsening of the disease. So is fluid therapy for pediatric enteritis effective? Let me introduce it to you below.

Causes of enteritis in children

It is mainly caused by intestinal infection, such as pathogenic Escherichia coli infection, enterovirus infection (most common with rotavirus), and also due to intestinal infection, such as pneumonia, otitis media, etc., and improper feeding. Diarrhea caused by pathogenic Escherichia coli can occur throughout the year.

Clinical manifestations of enteritis in children

(1) Mild diarrhea: Most cases are caused by improper diet or extraintestinal infection. A few cases may also be caused by pathogenic Escherichia coli or enterovirus infection.

① The clinical symptoms are mild, with diarrhea frequency less than 10 times a day, yellow or green stools, little water, and occasional vomiting.

② The child is in good spirits, with no obvious symptoms of dehydration or electrolyte disorder.

③ Microscopic examination of stool only shows a small amount of white blood cells and fat globules.

④Pay attention to observe and examine extraintestinal infection foci, such as otitis media.

(2) Severe diarrhea: It is caused by pathogenic Escherichia coli or viral infection. It can also be transformed from mild diarrhea. For some children, it is related to their nutritional status.

Diarrhea and vomiting are more severe, with diarrhea occurring about 20 times a day, and sometimes more times. The stool is watery or egg drop soup-like, with each stool containing tens of milliliters of water. There is no tenesmus during defecation, and vomiting is more frequent, more than 10 times a day.

The above is my opinion on this issue. If a child has the above problems, timely examination is needed to ensure physical health, avoid enteritis problems that affect the child's growth, and timely treatment is needed to ensure that the child's condition does not worsen. Finally, I wish the child a speedy recovery.
