Children are a group with relatively low resistance. Therefore, they may suffer from different types of diseases due to various reasons. For example, white ulcers in the throat are a common symptom among children. There are many specific causes of this symptom, such as herpetic pharyngitis, candidiasis, aphthous stomatitis, and Vincenzosporin.
It is more common in children under 7 years old. The onset is acute, with sudden high fever. 12 hours after the onset, small white blisters with a diameter of about 1-2 mm appear on the soft palate, uvula, palatoglossal arch, tonsils, posterior pharyngeal wall, etc. The blisters will rupture within 1-2 days, forming shallow ulcers and enlarged submandibular lymph nodes. 2. Candidiasis Also known as thrush, it is caused by Candida albicans and is common in infants and chronically ill patients with weak bodies. White curd-like plaques appear on the soft palate, posterior pharyngeal wall, lips, tongue, cheeks and other mucous membranes. The plaques are easily scraped off, leaving a slightly bleeding wound, but they will regenerate soon. In severe cases, the disease can spread downward to the laryngeal cavity, trachea, and esophagus. It can even invade the blood and cause sepsis. Treatment should focus on improving the overall condition and strengthening nutrition. 3. Aphthous stomatitis It is a common oropharyngeal mucosal disease, with round shallow ulcers appearing on the lips, tongue, cheeks, and labiogingival grooves. There is a pseudomembrane formed by necrotic tissue at the bottom. Similar lesions may occur in the soft palate, palatine arch or pharyngeal wall. The main symptom is pain, which is particularly obvious when eating. 4. Fensen's angina An ulcerative inflammatory disease, the cause of the disease may be anaerobic fusobacteria and spirochetes parasitizing in large numbers in the oral cavity of normal people. It is generally not pathogenic. It can only occur when the systemic condition is poor (such as long-term bed rest, malnutrition) or when oral hygiene is neglected and tissue vitality is reduced. This disease often affects one side of the tonsils or gums, and symptoms such as unilateral pharyngeal pain, bad breath, dysphagia, swollen and tender lymph nodes in the neck, and systemic symptoms include general discomfort, fever, etc. Ulcers covered with grayish white pseudomembranes can be seen on the upper end of the tonsils, and the surrounding tissues are congested. In severe cases, the pseudomembrane can extend to the entire pharynx or oral cavity. Fusobacteria and spirochetes can be found in the smear, and the diagnosis can be confirmed. |
