What to do if your baby is frightened

What to do if your baby is frightened

Families with babies tend to pay special attention to sound issues and dare not make loud noises for fear of scaring the baby. However, even though you can pay attention, you cannot block out the noises from other people's homes. For example, the sound of renovations may scare your baby. So, what should we do if the baby is frightened? What should we do if the baby is frightened? In addition to comforting the baby immediately, parents should also hold the baby immediately. If the baby is too frightened, medication can also be used for treatment.

1. Verbal comfort

Once the baby is frightened, the mother needs to immediately comfort the baby with a gentle voice and stroke the baby's hair and back. Or you can find an elderly person that the baby is familiar with to comfort the baby. The voice and physical contact of a loved one can make the baby feel safe and have the greatest soothing effect.

2. Play soothing music before going to bed

If your baby is easily startled when sleeping, you can play some soothing music before the baby falls asleep. After the baby falls asleep, be careful not to let his little hands press on your chest. When the baby wakes up, gently hold his little hands, or pat his back to comfort him, and he will fall asleep quickly.

3. Distract

Hold your baby in an odd position, such as letting him/her lie face down on your arms, or rocking him/her gently and then stroking his/her back. Let the baby turn his head and change his view, so that he will forget what happened just now.

4. Change the position of holding the baby

Hold your baby in an odd position. For example, let the baby lie face down on your arms and support his face with your palms. You can also gently rock the baby with your left hand and gently stroke the baby's back with your right hand. The baby's field of vision is shifted and he will feel strange and forget about the fright he just had.

5. Blowing on the forehead

Blow gently on the baby's forehead continuously and the baby will blink. If you repeat this several times, the baby may forget why he is crying.

6. Supplement trace elements

If your baby has frequent night terrors, it means that he is lacking in trace elements. Go to the hospital for a check-up. Generally speaking, the baby may be deficient in calcium and zinc. Usually, pay attention to taking your children out for more sun exposure to supplement trace elements.

7. Physical communication

When the baby is frightened, the mother should pat and touch him more. Children need affection from time to time. Mother should communicate with him more through body language, let him know that you are protecting him, pat him gently, and shake him left and right with your body as the axis.
