What are the characteristics of mentally retarded children?

What are the characteristics of mentally retarded children?

Some children are healthy after birth, but because they are in a developmental state, they do not have much expressive ability, and parents do not pay attention to their own changes and often ignore the brain development of their children. When they grow up and find out they have mental retardation, the possibility of cure is greatly reduced, so we should understand the characteristics of mentally retarded children.

Learning:

Due to their limited abilities, their learning persistence is short and their memory is poor; their application ability is low; their motivation for learning is less spontaneous; they lack abstract thinking, and their comprehension and understanding are weak; their learning transfer ability is insufficient and they cannot flexibly apply the knowledge and skills they have learned.

Emotional aspect:

They are usually pure in thought and straightforward in character. They are happy as long as someone is willing to talk to them and care about them.

Communication:

Their ability to express themselves, especially in speech, is relatively poor, and they often cannot express what they want to say. They have poor abstract and adaptability abilities and may not be able to handle problems independently.

Behavioral aspects:

Some mentally handicapped people may have behavioural problems (such as using temper tantrums to attract other people's attention). This is usually related to the way they are disciplined and the attitudes and expectations of others in society.

People with intellectual disabilities are often able to perform tasks that people with normal intelligence may find boring, such as performing simple and repetitive operations with their hands.

The above are the characteristics of mentally retarded children, especially their learning ability. Mentally retarded children generally live in their own world, their intellectual development is slow, so their learning ability is relatively poor. Parents should observe more changes in their children so that they can discover and treat them early to avoid getting out of control in the future.
