How many days does it take for a child's synovitis to heal?

Many people think that children will not suffer from synovitis. In fact, this statement is not so accurate. Now more and more children are suffering from synovitis. After the occurrence, it takes a long period of treatment and lifestyle adjustment to make the child's synovitis completely cured. Therefore, during the treatment period, we must be careful not to let them engage in strenuous exercise for a long time.

(1) Avoid long-term strenuous exercise

Long-term, excessive, and strenuous exercise or activity is one of the basic causes of synovial degeneration. Especially for weight-bearing joints (such as knee joints and hip joints), excessive movement increases the stress on the joint surface and intensifies wear. Long-term strenuous exercise can also cause excessive stress and traction on the bones and surrounding soft tissues, resulting in local soft tissue damage and uneven stress on the iliac bones, leading to bone hyperplasia.

(2) Do appropriate physical exercise

Avoiding long-term strenuous exercise does not mean inactivity. On the contrary, proper physical exercise is one of the good ways to prevent bone hyperplasia. Because the nutrition of articular cartilage comes from synovial fluid, and synovial fluid can only enter the cartilage by "squeezing", promoting the metabolism of cartilage. Appropriate exercise, especially joint exercise, can increase the pressure in the joint cavity, which is conducive to the penetration of synovial fluid into cartilage, reduce the degenerative changes of articular cartilage, and thus reduce or prevent synovitis, especially the hyperplasia and degenerative changes of articular cartilage.

(3) Treat joint injuries promptly

Joint injuries include soft tissue injuries and bone injuries. Bone hyperplasia in joints is often directly related to intra-articular fractures. Due to incomplete fracture reduction, the articular cartilage surface becomes uneven, resulting in traumatic arthritis. For patients with intra-articular fractures, if they can receive timely treatment and anatomical reduction, the occurrence of traumatic arthritis and joint bone hyperplasia can be completely avoided.

(4) Lose weight

Being overweight is one of the important causes of bone hyperplasia in the spine and joints. Excessive weight will accelerate the wear of articular cartilage, cause uneven pressure on the articular cartilage surface, and cause synovitis. Therefore, for overweight people, appropriate weight loss can prevent spinal and joint synovitis.

6. The harm of not treating synovitis in time

Simple synovitis has not caused bone lesions, but if not treated in time, the injured bone may suffer from ischemic bone necrosis. Therefore, children with hip synovitis should stay in bed, avoid weight bearing and use topical anti-inflammatory drugs until the hip pain disappears and the range of motion returns to normal. It is best to rest for a period of time (7-10 days) after the symptoms disappear, and have a follow-up examination 2 months and 6 months after the onset of the disease.
