What should I do if my child develops herpes?

When a baby develops herpes, it is usually caused by a viral infection. It may also be that the baby's own immunity is relatively low, which makes it easy for the virus to invade. After a baby is infected with the herpes virus, parents must pay attention to it and take the baby to the hospital in time to find out the cause, whether it is chickenpox, urticaria, or hand, foot and mouth disease, and then treat it symptomatically. Let the child drink more water on a regular basis.

What to do if your baby gets herpes

If a child has herpes, the first thing to do is to protect the herpes area to prevent ulcers and rotting. At the same time, the clothes you wear should be soft to prevent the wound from getting infected due to friction between the clothes and the skin. At the same time, it is best to ensure that the herpes wound is moist. For some people with weakened immune systems, interferon injections are required to shorten the course of treatment. For young children, they spend a long time playing every day, so mothers should start with their daily diet and cleaning, and take more free time to communicate with their children, so that children can be in a relaxed state every day. Avoid foods that easily cause irritation in your daily diet, especially during treatment of an illness.

Moreover, children are likely to have a fever during the treatment of herpes. Once the herpes condition is under control, the fever will gradually subside. Therefore, mothers also need to force their babies to drink more water or porridge to ensure the normal supply of water in the body. At the same time, you need to pay more attention to a light diet to reduce greater damage to the wound.

Treatment for herpes in children is as follows:

1. Symptomatic treatment: For itchy skin without ulceration, calamine lotion can be applied, and antibiotic ointment can be applied after the herpes has ruptured. Patients with obvious pain from herpes zoster should be given analgesics such as indomethacin, and vitamin B1 and B12 can be taken orally or intramuscularly. In case of secondary infection, 0.5% neomycin cream or mupirocin ointment can be used externally.

2. Vaccines and immunosuppressants For children with severe primary genital herpes and recurrent attacks, non-specific vaccines such as BCG and polio vaccine can be used to enhance the body's non-specific immunity. They should be used with caution in patients with immunosuppression and immunodeficiency.

3. General treatment: get enough rest, eat easily digestible food, and stay hydrated. Strengthen care, keep skin clean and prevent secondary bacterial infection. Clothes, bedding, towels, dressings, etc. that have come into contact with herpes fluid should be disinfected promptly and not shared with healthy people. Patients with herpetic gingivostomatitis should keep their mouths clean and gargle with 1:1000 benzalkonium bromide solution. Patients with genital herpes should avoid sexual intercourse during treatment.

4. External treatment with Chinese medicine: Apply the Chinese medicine cream Bolikang externally to treat local symptoms, which can be eliminated in 30 days. At the same time, you should increase exercise.

Children with herpes should pay attention to their diet. They should not eat spicy food or seafood. Their diet should be light and they should eat more fruits and vegetables to strengthen their physical fitness.
