What causes thrombocythemia in children?

Among many people, children are a relatively weak group. Because they are in the process of development, their bodies need various nutrients, so their incidence rate is the highest. Various strange diseases are prone to occur in them, such as pediatric thrombocythemia. Thrombocytosis is a manifestation of inflammation. Let's find out what causes pediatric thrombocythemia.

1. Causes

It is generally believed that it is caused by excessive production of effective platelets, some of which are one of the myeloproliferative diseases. The most common causes are bleeding, tissue inflammation and necrosis, malignant tumors, iron deficiency and post-splenectomy.

2. Pathogenesis

Secondary thrombocythemia may be related to the presence of plasma platelet-stimulating factor, which causes excessive platelet production. In addition, some patients (such as after exercise) have thrombocytosis, which is often the result of excessive release of platelets from storage pools such as the spleen and lungs. Although there are many platelets, they show changes of thrombocytopathy, that is, the generation of active thromboplastin is impaired, resulting in poor consumption of prothrombin, poor platelet adhesion, prolonged bleeding time, positive arm test, etc. Platelets are clustered in blood smears, there are giant platelets, there is an increase in megakaryocytes in the bone marrow, they are large in size, rich in cytoplasm, there may be an increase in white blood cells and neutrophils, and platelets react poorly to adrenaline and collagen aggregation.

The above are two causes of pediatric thrombocythemia. Most of them are myeloproliferative diseases. The most common symptom is heavy bleeding, which may be due to the lack of iron in the body. In severe cases, malignant tumors may occur. The continuous spread of malignant viruses and bacteria will also endanger other organs, not just bone tissue.
