What to do if your child is slow to respond

Look at your children and see if there is a small problem with their reaction. Some children react slowly. In such a situation, some parents will be very anxious and criticize their children harshly, which will make the children feel more aggrieved and their intellectual development will be worse. Parents should know more about what to do if their children react slowly and create more opportunities for their children to let them see more of the outside world.

Many children probably have the phenomenon of slow reaction. Some children only know how to study hard and their thinking is not sharp enough. Parents should put more effort into the problem of their children's slow reaction. It is also important to learn more about what to do when their children are slow to react and encourage their children more.

As a parent, when you find that your child is slow to learn, you should first find out where the child's slow response is manifested:

(1) Does he respond slowly to all problems or only to certain aspects of the problem? Some children are more sensitive to some figurative problems (such as musical sensitivity, ability to observe pictures, etc.); but are less sensitive to some logical and abstract problems (such as mathematical problems). When assisted by certain concrete images or situations, they react faster; on the contrary, when separated from certain images or situations, their reactions to some abstract issues may be slower. Also, boys and girls have different thinking characteristics, and girls may find it difficult to deal with boys' quick reactions. Therefore, the speed of a child's reaction is determined by the child's own developmental stage characteristics, gender characteristics, and personality characteristics, and this "slowness" is generally not surprising.

(2) Is the child’s slow response due to lack of interest? Some children lack interest in certain aspects, and this "slowness" is not a sign of mental unhealthiness.

(3) Is the child’s slow response due to the fact that the teacher and parents rarely provide training and inspiration in certain areas?

(4) To what extent is the child’s reaction slow? Generally, we can describe a person's reaction speed and intelligence level based on his IQ. The general IQ is between 90 and 110, which is a normal intelligence level; above 120 is a superior intelligence level; below 70 is a low intelligence level. If the child's slow reaction is indeed caused by intellectual disability, parents can use various forces, such as school education, training in special institutions and the parents' own educational role, to help him improve.

After recognizing the above problems, targeted training methods should be adopted. During training, attention should be paid to:

(1) Do not scold or ridicule your child. Maintain a positive attitude toward your child. Children who are slow to respond, regardless of whether they have normal or low intelligence, need more care, consideration, education, guidance, and conscious training. If these children are scolded, even ridiculed and mocked frequently, and their own efforts and education are ignored, it will stifle their self-esteem and self-confidence and hinder their progress.

(2) Strengthen training. For children who are slow to respond to certain issues, regardless of the reason, parents should work together with teachers to consciously train their children in relevant areas. Training should be gradual and steady, and the pace should not be too fast. If you conduct relevant training frequently, the child's reaction in the relevant area will be faster.

(3) Encourage your child for every progress he or she makes. Some parents, when they find that their children are slow to react, do not strengthen their training to help them improve, but instead think that their children are hopeless and ignore them. In this way, children who are not truly intellectually retarded may become truly intellectually retarded, and their slow reactions to certain problems may become even more dull. As a parent, in addition to strengthening training, you should also pay attention to every progress he makes, and encourage him even if the progress is very small.

When your child shows slow reaction, as a parent, do you know what to do? I believe that many parents don’t know what to do when they encounter such a problem. Many times they will blame the children, which will make the children more and more timid and feel a lot of grievances in their hearts, which is not conducive to the development of intelligence. Parents must be able to communicate with their children in a timely manner.
