What is the cause of the newborn's hoarse throat?

What always accompanies children is crying. After they are born, they can only express their emotions by crying. However, some newborns may have such conditions, such as hoarseness of the throat. What is the reason for this? Is it caused by crying? This is just our side of the story. Next, let’s learn what causes a newborn’s hoarse throat.

It is considered to be an acute laryngitis. Acute laryngitis is caused by bacterial infection, which causes inflammation of the larynx, congestion and edema of the larynx, and causes airway narrowing. In mild cases, the patient may suffer from hoarseness, while in severe cases, the patient may suffocate and die due to airway obstruction. It is a common disease in infancy and childhood. Because children's laryngeal cavity is narrow and the submucosal tissue is loose, laryngeal obstruction may occur even with slight swelling during inflammation.

Symptoms of acute laryngitis include:

(1) Barking cough: a cough that sounds like a barking puppy. This type of cough is caused by the air flow passing through the narrow and edematous throat when coughing. The sound is heavy and can be easily distinguished from an ordinary cough.

(2) Hoarseness or even loss of voice.

(3) In severe cases, there is difficulty breathing, mainly difficulty inhaling, which may be accompanied by cyanosis, irritability, and pale complexion.

(4) With or without fever. Acute laryngitis is a serious illness that must be treated in the hospital and requires emergency treatment.

My baby suddenly became hoarse when he was 45 days old. We went to the hospital and the doctor recommended hospitalization. Once he was admitted, the doctor asked us to take an X-ray and it turned out to be pneumonia. After being hospitalized twice, the baby's condition changed very quickly. Especially since your baby is only three months old. During the peak season for respiratory diseases, you should try to avoid taking children to crowded public places to reduce the chance of catching a cold.

Generally pay attention to

(1) Take medication on time. (Medications must be taken according to the doctor's instructions.)

(2) Drink more water.

(3) Use your voice less and try not to let your child cry loudly.

(4) Eat a light diet.

The above are the causes of itchy throat. It is likely to be acute throat. Therefore, many parents of newborns should not think that their child’s hoarse throat is caused by crying. They must first find the cause and then take appropriate measures for treatment. This is the scientific and reasonable way to deal with it.
