Prevention and care of infant tongue ulcers

Prevention and care of infant tongue ulcers

The oral cavity of a newborn baby is relatively fragile. Moreover, the oral mucosa of infants is not fully developed and is prone to ulceration. If a baby gets a sore throat or is not used to breastfeeding or drinking formula, it is easy for the baby's tongue to ulcerate. So how do we deal with and treat this phenomenon? Let me introduce it to you below.

Oral ulcers are localized ulcerous lesions of the oral mucosa characterized by periodic recurrence. They can heal on their own and can occur in any part of the oral mucosa, most commonly on the lips, cheeks, and tongue. In severe cases, they can affect the pharyngeal mucosa. As the disease progresses, many patients experience larger ulcer area, increased number, more severe pain, longer healing period, shorter interval period, etc., which affects their eating and speaking.

Although there are many treatments for oral ulcers, they are basically symptomatic treatments, the main purpose of which is to relieve pain or reduce the number of recurrences, but they cannot completely control recurrence, so prevention of this disease is particularly important.

You should pay attention to keeping your mouth clean, gargle with light salt water frequently, quit smoking and drinking, have a regular daily life, and ensure adequate sleep. Keep exercising, eat a light diet, eat more vegetables and fruits, eat less spicy, greasy and irritating foods, and keep your bowel movements smooth. Women should pay attention to rest before and after menstruation, maintain a happy mood, avoid excessive fatigue, eat a light diet, eat more fruits and fresh vegetables, drink plenty of water, etc., to reduce the chance of oral ulcers.

In life, as parents, we should pay active attention to our children's health and their eating habits. When babies are young, it will cause great pain to the children, and they are very young and can't express their pain. You can choose to use it for the children, and pay attention to the oral hygiene and diet of the children.
