Introduction to baby food for four months

Introduction to baby food for four months

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that babies should be exclusively breastfed for at least 6 months before starting to add some complementary foods. Some babies have special physiques and have an early need for complementary foods. You can try adding complementary foods when the baby is 4 months old. Generally, the first bite can be some iron-fortified rice noodles, which are easier to digest and suitable for the baby's delicate stomach.

Add rice porridge, juice and vegetable soup appropriately. After the child has adapted to rice porridge, juice and vegetable soup, start adding protein foods. At the beginning, only 1/4 egg yolk paste can be added, and egg whites must not be fed.

Rice porridge: Rice porridge is less likely to cause allergies in babies.

Protein foods: Egg yolks can be made into a paste, or some chicken liver can be added to increase iron.

Fruit juice: vegetable juice, orange juice, apple juice, tomato juice.

For babies who are mixed-fed, since formula milk is added, the ratio of water to milk powder is fixed, so the baby needs to be fed boiled water separately. When choosing formula milk, you should also carefully select formula milk with added β-vegetable oil (affinity structural fat) and moderately hydrolyzed protein. This type of milk is easier for babies to absorb, does not cause irritation or constipation, and is more baby-friendly.

Recommended recipe 1: Fresh millet paste

Ingredients:

15g rice

practice:

1. Wash the rice and soak it in warm water for 2 hours.

2. Put the soaked rice into a blender, add a little water, and blend it into a fine rice paste.

3. Pour the rice paste into a container.

4. Pour the rice slurry into a milk pot, add about 8 times the amount of water, and heat slowly over low heat. Stir the rice slurry constantly with a spoon to prevent it from sticking to the pot.

5. After the rice slurry boils, continue to cook for 2 minutes and then serve.

effect:

Rice porridge has the effects of nourishing the spleen, harmonizing the stomach, and clearing the lungs. It also has the functions of invigorating qi, nourishing yin, and moisturizing dryness. It is beneficial to the development and health of the human body. It can stimulate the secretion of gastric juice, help digestion, and promote the absorption of fat. It can also prompt the casein in milk powder to form loose and soft small clots, making it easy to digest and absorb.

Recommended recipe 2: Brown rice paste

Ingredients:

80g brown rice, 500ml water

practice:

1. Soak the brown rice in water for 2 hours.

2. Cook the soaked brown rice into porridge.

3. Put the porridge into a blender and blend.

4. Filter the porridge into brown rice paste and feed it to your baby.

5. Finally, serve in a bowl.

effect:

Brown rice contains a large amount of cellulose, which can improve gastrointestinal function, purify blood, prevent constipation, colon cancer and obesity, and help metabolism and detoxification. The trace elements such as potassium, magnesium, zinc, iron and manganese in brown rice are beneficial for preventing cardiovascular diseases and anemia.

It would be more convenient to feed your baby directly with ready-made complementary foods. You can just prepare them according to the instructions on the product. Ready-made complementary foods are never as nutritious as those made by mothers themselves. It is recommended to spend some time making some nutritious complementary foods for your babies. You can also grind some millet yourself to make rice milk for your baby. This is simpler and more nutritious, but be careful not to make it too thick or too thin.
