What to do if your baby's tooth is broken

Children are very naughty when running and jumping, and they may easily fall if they are not careful, which may cause their teeth to be broken. In this case, they need to go to the hospital for emergency treatment to see if the tooth root is broken. If the tooth root is not broken, the tooth will grow out again.

Methods/Steps

If only the enamel or shallow dentin is damaged and it is far away from the pulp, root canal treatment is not required and only ordinary tooth restoration is needed. (Usually patients have no obvious symptoms or are only sensitive to cold, hot, sour, sweet, etc.)

Broken teeth are usually still there. First, the unbroken part should be reduced in size and a pile should be driven in. The purpose of the pile is to wear a crown. If the front teeth are gone, you will not be able to speak clearly.

If you have a serious fall in a car accident, your teeth are usually loose and you need to fix them first.

If the tooth is broken very close to the pulp or has been opened, it will be very sensitive and the symptoms will be very obvious, and it may be accompanied by bleeding. In this case, root canal treatment must be done to extract the dental nerve. Otherwise, the exposed dental nerve will cause toothache. As the saying goes: toothache is not a disease, but it can be fatal!

After the root canal treatment, a simple filling will be done and the patient will be asked to go to the hospital after a ceremony to do the filling and prepare the crown model.

If the broken tooth is a front tooth, and the fall was severe, a crown will be needed. There are many types of crowns, and they are almost invisible to real teeth, but you will not be able to bite hard objects, such as gnawing bones or cracking walnut shells with your teeth.

If the broken tooth is a big tooth, you need to fill it. After the filling, the dentist will recommend you to get a crown. Of course, you can choose not to get a crown, but you can't eat hard food.

Some people may ask what a crown is. It is like a protective garment for teeth. Because teeth that have undergone root canal treatment are very fragile and can easily break, the crown plays a protective role.
