How to massage for nasal congestion in children

The specific steps are:

Pick up your baby and let him sit on you. Hold his little feet gently with both hands. Press the area between the first and second joints on the inside of the big toe on the baby's feet and massage gently. 5 minutes each time, 3 times a day. Note that the inside of the big toe is not the sole of the foot, but the part opposite the two feet.

This method is very effective in the early stages of a cold. If the cold gets worse, you can continue to massage while taking injections and medication to speed up improvement. This method is not only effective for adults, but also for babies.

Massage method 1

1. Commonly used techniques

(1) The child should be held by an adult or placed in a prone position. The parent should dip a small amount of ginger juice in their palms and rub the back and waist vigorously along the bladder meridian on both sides of the spine until the child becomes red and hot.

(2) Parents should use the thumbs of both hands to massage the Fengmen and Feishu points on the back for 1 minute respectively.

(3) The child lies in a supine position, and the parents use the thumbs of both hands to push the sides of the nose 20 to 30 times each, then push the Yintang and Zanzhu points, and then wipe the forehead to the left and right, and use the thumbs to press and rub the temples. Repeat this several times until your skin turns slightly red.

(4) Parents should press and rub the Quchi and Hegu points with their thumbs for 1 to 3 minutes each.

2. Add or subtract according to symptoms

(1) Wind-cold cold: Symptoms include severe aversion to cold, mild fever, no sweating, headache, nasal congestion, clear runny nose, cough, clear and thin sputum, and pale tongue.

Specific techniques:

① Rub Wailaogong 100 times.

② Push Sanguan acupoint 500 times.

③ Use both hands to lift the muscles at the Jianjing point 5 to 7 times.

④ Use your index and middle fingers to rub the two doors 50 times. Apply a little force and rub at a fast speed.

(2) Wind-heat cold: Symptoms include high fever, slight aversion to wind or cold, sore throat, dry mouth, sweating, flushed face, stuffy nose, runny yellow nose, cough with yellow sputum, red edges and tip of tongue, and thin yellow fur. Commonly used techniques:

① Clear the lung meridian 300 times and clear Tianhe water 100 times.

② Press and rub the Dazhui point for 1 to 3 minutes.

③ Rub the sacrum and coccyx horizontally with your palm until heat is felt through it.

④ Press Jianjing 3 to 5 times.

(3) For patients with cough and excessive phlegm: massage the Tiantu and Fenglong points for 1 minute each, push the small horizontal line 100 times, and push the Tanzhong point 100 times.

(4) For patients with high fever and convulsions: add Qingfei Meridian 300 times, Qingxin Meridian 300 times, Push Yongquan 200 times, Qingtianhe Water 500 times.

(5) For those with poor appetite: massage Banmen 100 times, rub Zhongwan for 3 minutes, and massage Zusanli for 1 minute.
