What to do if your baby eats less

What to do if your baby eats less

Nowadays, parents with children are usually very concerned about the healthy growth of their babies, but there are also some problems that bother parents. The problem of babies eating less makes parents worry and they don’t know what delicious food to cook for their babies. Some parents take the trouble to cook for their babies in various ways, but the babies don’t eat anything. This situation makes the whole family anxious. The problem of babies eating less is indeed a matter of great concern to parents. So today let’s talk about what the baby eats.

It may be due to the hot weather and the fire in the baby's body. You must give the baby more water. Add water once between the two feedings. You can also add some fruit juice to the baby. Some babies have a period of anorexia from 4 to 6 months, which is a physiological anorexia period. Its characteristics are that the child develops normally and is very energetic, but the amount of milk consumed is temporarily reduced. Usually, the child's appetite recovers naturally in about one month.

If mothers want to help their children get through the milk aversion period, they must first distinguish whether the child’s milk aversion is physiological or pathological. In sharp contrast to physiological milk aversion, pathological milk aversion, in addition to milk aversion, also has symptoms such as eating less, sleeping poorly, and poor energy. Milk aversion is only a sign of accompanying acute or chronic diseases. In this case, be sure to take your baby to the hospital for examination and treatment.

How to help your baby get through the “milk aversion period”?

(1) Create a dining environment: The dining environment should be as gentle and quiet as possible. Because babies at this stage begin to be curious about the outside world, if someone teases him while he is eating, or there are many toys and sounds that can attract his attention, the baby will think that these things are more interesting than eating, and naturally he will not want to eat.

(2) Change the feeding method and increase the baby's exercise: adopt a more casual approach and do not need to follow a schedule. The principle is to feed small meals frequently and wait for your baby to eat when he wants to. You can consume your baby's physical energy through games, such as massage, physical activities, etc. When he is exhausted and feels hungry, his eating conditions will also improve.

(3) Add complementary foods at the right time: Babies around 4 months old should still be fed mainly with breast milk or formula milk. Complementary foods are only needed for one or two meals. Therefore, when your baby gets bored, you may want to give him something new to try. Start with rice flour or diluted fruit juice, then gradually add vegetable and fruit purees.

(4) No need for coercion: Many parents worry that their babies will not grow up if they drink too little, so they resort to coercion. However, this approach will make the baby afraid of eating.

(5) Take milk aversion lightly: The mood and stress of the person who takes care of the baby will be directly transmitted to the baby. When the caregiver is anxious or forces the baby to drink milk, the baby can feel it and thus resist.

The above describes the reasons why babies eat less. I hope mothers will pay more attention to it. It is not because the baby does not like to eat. The baby must be more or less angry or because he has heat in his heart. Mothers should pay more attention to the baby’s eating habits in daily life, because after all, eating less will affect the healthy development of the body. If there is time, I would also like to ask many parents to go online to collect some knowledge in this regard, so that they know what to do in terms of diet and how to take care of their baby’s body.
