How often should you change your baby's diapers?

Babies do not have the independent awareness of urination and defecation, so they need to use diapers. When using diapers, you must pay attention to the changing time. Generally speaking, they should be changed every 3 to 4 hours. If the changing speed is too slow, urine will often affect the baby's delicate skin, which can easily lead to diaper rash and cause itching, pain and other adverse symptoms in the baby.

How often should you change your baby's diapers?

Nowadays, many parents, due to work or other reasons, may ask their elders in the family to help take care of their children after they are born. They are not clear about many small details of raising children, such as how to put diapers on the baby, how to change diapers, etc. Let’s talk about how often diapers need to be changed.

In fact, there is no standard time for changing diapers, nor is it unified and fixed. The general principle is that the diaper needs to be changed in time when the baby is full of urine or after the baby has defecated. This will ensure the breathability of the baby's butt. Since babies of different ages have different physiological characteristics and different urination and defecation situations, parents need to decide the time and frequency of diaper changes based on actual conditions.

If the baby is only one month old, the diaper should be changed every 3-4 hours, and the baby's butt should be wiped with warm water after changing. This can prevent the baby from suffering from eczema; if the baby is 5-6 months old, the time interval between each diaper change can be longer, and parents should observe the condition of the diaper more often. If the diaper looks thicker, or feels a little heavy when you hold it in your hand, you need to change your baby's diaper.

How to tell whether diapers should be changed

Many parents have encountered this situation: when changing the baby's diaper, if it takes a long time, the baby's pants may be wet; if it takes a shorter time, it is found that the baby has not urinated. So, how do you know whether the diaper should be changed?

First, look at the baby's condition

Newborns need to change diapers about 10 times a day because their bladders are not fully developed; when the baby is older, the time for changing diapers can be extended. In addition, before determining whether the diaper needs to be changed, you should also pay attention to the baby's water drinking. When the baby drinks more water, the number of diaper changes will increase.

Second, whether it is day or night

Babies are more active during the day, eat more, and urinate more frequently, so their diapers generally need to be changed every three hours or so. Babies are less active at night and urinate less, so they only need to change their diapers every eight hours.

Third, look at the quality of diapers

If the quality of the diaper is poor, it is not breathable, and it is easy to reseep, the diaper will need to be changed more often; if the quality of the diaper is good, it has good urine absorbency, does not reseep, and is breathable, the diaper will need to be changed less often.
