Children's immunity is relatively weak when they are born, and they are easily harmed by diseases, so we should give children some vaccines to improve their body resistance. The measles-mumps-rubella vaccine is very helpful in preventing leprosy in children, but the injection of this vaccine may cause some adverse reactions in children, such as burning sensation on the face and vomiting.

Adverse reactions to MMR vaccine

Some adverse reactions may occur after the injection of measles-mumps-rubella vaccine. The specific adverse reactions mainly include the following aspects.

A common side effect of the MMR vaccine is a short-term burning and stinging sensation at the injection site, so your baby may seem a little fussy. Some babies may develop fever (38.3℃ or above) and may also have a rash within 5 to 12 days after vaccination.

Rare adverse reactions to measles-mumps-rubella vaccine include some mild local reactions, such as erythema, nodules and tenderness, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. It is very rare for a baby to be allergic to the MMR vaccine, but this possibility cannot be ruled out.

Things to note when getting the MMR vaccine

There are always some precautions when administering any vaccine, and the MMR vaccine is no exception.

1. When opening the ampoule and injecting, do not allow disinfectant to come into contact with the vaccine. Ampoules with cracks, unclear labels or poor dissolution should not be used. After the ampoule is opened, the vaccine should be used within 1 hour.

2. Women of childbearing age should practice contraception for at least 3 months after receiving this vaccine. Those who have received immunoglobulin injections should wait one month before receiving this vaccine.

3. Stay at the vaccination unit for 30 minutes after vaccination, observe the child's reaction, and leave if there is no abnormality. After vaccination, take adequate rest, drink plenty of water, keep warm, and avoid strenuous activities.
