How to Prevent Mumps

How to Prevent Mumps

We know that disease prevention is very important. If we treat the disease once it occurs, it will be very troublesome. Therefore, if we have a healthy body, very high immunity, and very regular living habits, many diseases will stay away from us. For example, mumps, a disease we often hear about, how can we prevent it?

Mumps is easily spread. The source of mumps is the patient, and the main route is through inhalation of droplets. Generally, the disease will occur two to three weeks after inhalation, so it is very important to prevent mumps.

1. Vaccines to prevent mumps

In recent years, mumps has been prevalent on a large scale in various places. Parents can choose to have mumps vaccination for their children. The MMR vaccine can be chosen instead of the measles vaccine when the measles vaccine is boosted. The triple vaccine can produce antibodies in 99% of cases, and the clinical protective effect can last for more than 10 years. A few cases of mumps occurred 7 to 10 days after vaccination. There have also been reports of post-vaccination meningoencephalitis after the use of the triple vaccine. Therefore, the promotion of this vaccine still needs to be done with caution.

2. Stay away from sources of infection

In spring, mumps is prone to spread in kindergartens and primary schools. Children should be closely monitored, patients should be detected early, and isolated and treated in time. The isolation period should be from three days before the onset of parotid swelling and pain until the swelling of the parotid gland completely subsides.

3. Cut off infection

During the spring epidemic season, do not take children to crowded places, and do not visit the homes of mumps patients.

4. Drugs to prevent mumps

Children who have had contact with children with mumps should be closely observed and taken decocted 30 grams of Isatis root or 9 grams of honeysuckle, one dose per day for six consecutive days.

Above we introduced what mumps is, and we also explained the importance of disease prevention. There are four things we need to do to prevent mumps. The first is to get vaccinated against mumps. The second is that we must stay away from the source of infection. The third is that we must cut off the route of transmission. The fourth is that we can take some medicines to prevent it.
