5 signs your child may be sick

Infants and young children have poor adaptability to the weather and are more prone to illness in winter. Parents should pay close attention to changes in their children and detect any physical discomfort early.

Mood changes

Healthy children are often full of energy. If a child suddenly becomes irritable and his face turns red, it is usually a sign of fever; dull eyes and clenched fists are often signs of convulsions; bending and rolling of the legs are manifestations of abdominal pain. But if the crying is weak or there is no crying at all, it means the condition is serious.

Changes in appetite

If a child usually feeds and eats well but suddenly refuses to feed or is unable to suck, or eats less, there may be an infection; if the child has abdominal distension and a sour and smelly breath, it indicates that the baby has indigestion.

Sleep changes

If a child is restless before going to bed, kicks off the quilt during sleep, or has a red face after waking up, it is often a reflection of fever; if he keeps chewing or grinding his teeth before and after going to bed, it may be that he is too excited before going to bed or has a roundworm infection.

Breathing changes

If the child's breathing becomes heavier, more frequent, and his face turns red, he may have a fever; if he has rapid breathing, flaring nostrils, bluish areas around his lips, and his intercostal muscles sink or his sternum becomes sunken when he breathes, he may have pneumonia. If children often have cyanotic lips and grayish-green complexion, beware of myocarditis or congenital heart disease.

Weight changes

After the baby is born, weight gain accelerates. If weight gain slows or decreases, the influence of disease should be suspected, such as symptoms or diseases such as diarrhea, malnutrition, anemia, etc.
