What to do if your 2-year-old baby likes to hit people

During the growth process of a baby, he will have different behaviors at different stages. When the baby reaches the age of 2, he reaches the first rebellious period. Babies at this stage often show a tendency to hit others. This behavior makes many parents feel particularly troubled. They don’t know how to change the baby’s habit of hitting others. In fact, in life, parents need to give more guidance to the baby and the baby will change.

What to do if your 2-year-old baby likes to hit people

1. Lead by example

Parents are a mirror for their children. Children will imitate their parents' words and deeds. Therefore, as parents, we should set a good example for our children! In daily life, we should be polite to others. Especially when couples quarrel, they should not do so in front of their children, let alone fight, otherwise the baby will also imitate the behavior of adults.

2. Patient Teaching

A 2-year-old child is at a turning point. We need to be patient enough. When the child hits others, we cannot beat, scold or reprimand the child. This will leave a psychological trauma on the baby and increase the rebellious psychology. We should patiently teach children what is right and what is wrong, and let them learn to be humble. Adults should not be too irritable, because then they will subconsciously learn to do it. Parents must be patient at this time.

3. Meet baby’s needs

Generally, babies will hit others when their needs are not met. For example, if the baby wants to play with some toys but the adults don’t give them to him, the baby cannot express his needs and will hit others to get attention. At this time, you can meet the baby’s needs appropriately, but tell him when he can play and when he can’t play. Learn to satisfy the baby, but at the same time, communicate with the baby patiently and give the child some power in life. For example, giving children the right to choose small things such as choosing today's clothes and which spoon to use will help them escape from the state of oppression. Giving children more choices can also enhance the self-awareness of children over two years old and meet their development needs for self-expression.

4. Teach your baby to express language

Sometimes some babies want to express something, but they still can't express it clearly. When they are anxious and have limited expressive abilities, they like to express themselves through body language. When you are anxious, you are particularly prone to getting angry and even hitting others. If two children play with toys together, if one of them is unwilling to give up his toy, he will subconsciously grab his toy back. At this time, you can teach the baby to express his needs. For example, when he wants to take something, he can say, "Sister, let's play together," or "Let's shake hands and be good friends."

5. Divert your baby’s attention

When your baby is in a bad mood, you can divert her attention appropriately and take her to do something she likes, such as watching cartoons or playing games, so that she can experience happiness and relieve impulsive emotions.

6. Guide your baby more

Two or three-year-old babies enter the rebellious period. They change from being quiet, obedient and dependent in the past and strongly demand to express their "self". In daily life, we can tell children, "Does it hurt if other children or adults hit you? Children should not push others. Pushing others is a bad behavior habit." We should let children imagine that hitting others is a very serious matter and no one will be happy. Also, if you hit others, your older brothers and sisters will not play with you. Playing together is the most fun, right? Guide your children to learn to share.

7. Do some useful reading

You can do more parent-child reading with your children, and read more interesting stories about kindergarten, so that your children will like groups and sharing. You can teach your children to be polite to others through stories. In addition, children and parents can establish connections through books and reading, enhance communication, and increase affection. Through reading, children can become braver, more confident, and quieter.
