How to deal with the rebellious period of a 2-year-old

In fact, the rebellious period is a very troublesome issue for parents. Generally, the first rebellious period comes after the age of two. This situation is particularly serious for boys, to the point that parents may not be able to educate their children well. Therefore, we must learn to communicate with them instead of always beating or scolding them, as this will only make the relationship worse.

Most children enter their first rebellious period in life (commonly known as the "baby rebellious period") after the age of 2. As long as their parents ask them to do something, the children will go against it. Or you can just say that the child is naughty. Girls might be a little better.

The first "rebellious period" can be said to be the most headache-inducing period for parents, because the children at this time are still young, and no matter how patiently you reason with them, they simply won't listen, or even if they do, they simply ignore it. It is impossible to calm them down with words, so the only option is to "suppress them with force", which ultimately causes damage to the relationship between parents and children.

Children go through an inevitable development stage where "self-awareness sprouts and the desire to become independent grows". Parents should clearly see the positive significance of this stage to their children's growth, so they can be more calm and will not be irritated more often. Instead, they will look for a variety of coping strategies.

The most inappropriate way to deal with a child’s “rebellious period” is to confront the child. A child who is only 2 years old and has just left infancy encounters strong opposition from his parents. This will either inspire him to continue to oppose his parents in the future, or he will become cowardly and retreat after being suppressed by his parents' power, and will be afraid and obedient once he encounters external resistance. Moreover, in the future the child may not dare to express his or her true inner thoughts, suppress his or her emotions, and develop a dual personality, being well-behaved on the surface but rebellious at heart. When a considerable amount of rebellious emotions accumulate in the heart, once it explodes, it will be difficult to control.

In addition, "making a feint to the east and attacking in the west" is also a good way to deal with the baby's rebellious period, but parents must not compromise on issues of principle. If there is a direct conflict, the baby will cry and the parent-child relationship will be affected. The best way is to divert the child's attention and guide him to the right path.

Allow for Mistakes

This stage is the critical period for children to form their own opinions, and small mistakes are inevitable. Therefore, parents should allow their children to make some mistakes and suffer some losses, and not overly restrict their children's hands and feet. At the same time, parents are the best role models for their children. Children in their rebellious period have strong imitation abilities, and parents' good words and deeds can have a subtle influence on their children.

Reduce the burden on children

All parents have the idea that "they want their sons to become successful and their daughters to become outstanding". Some parents even impose their unfulfilled wishes on their children. After school, the children have to undergo training that they are unwilling to do, which makes it difficult for the children to relax mentally. This brings a lot of mental pressure to the children. I hope that parents will give their children appropriate time to play while letting them study.
