Precautions for children's back massage

Precautions for children's back massage

Studies have found that correct pediatric back massage has many benefits for the baby's healthy growth, especially massaging some acupoints on the back, such as pinching the spine, pushing the seven vertebrae, massaging the fish tail, holding the shoulder well, etc. However, it should be noted that the environment must be suitable, not too noisy, and the light cannot be too strong; it is not suitable for massage when the baby has just eaten or is hungry. Finally, be careful not to hurt the baby.

1. Position of massage on the back of children

1. Chiropractic

Operation method: Put the thumbs and index fingers of both hands together, and pinch upwards from the child's coccyx along both sides of the spine, pinching the skin and flesh together, then quickly put it down, and pinch to the hairline of the neck. It is effective when the skin on both sides of the spine is slightly flushed. Number of operations: Pinching from the coccyx to the cervical vertebrae is a tonifying method, and pinching from the cervical vertebrae downwards to the coccyx is a clearing method. You can pinch 1 to 2 times a day, 5 to 10 times each time.

2. Push the seven joints

Operation method: The seven vertebrae are located at the junction of the fourth lumbar vertebra to the sacrum and coccyx on the midline of the back. Use your thumb to push from bottom to top to supplement, and push downward to clear the seven vertebrae. Number of operations: 100 to 300 times each.

3. Massage the fishtail

Operation method: Press and rub the coccyx (tail space). The coccyx is located at the lower end of the protrusion where the sacrum and coccyx meet. Number of operations: 1 to 2 times a day, rub 100 to 300 times with the thumb or middle finger.

4. Na Jian Jing

Operation method: Jianjing is located at the midpoint of the line between Dazhui and acromion, on the shoulder muscle. Lifting the Jianjing acupoint with the thumb and middle three fingers is called "pinching the Jianjing"; pressing the acupoint with the fingertips is called "pressing the Jianjing". Number of operations: hold 3 to 5 times, massage 30 times.

2. Precautions for massage

1. Pediatric massage is suitable for children aged 0-14 years old, and newborns can also do massage.

2. When doing pediatric massage, you should choose a place that is sheltered from wind, strong light, and with little noise; the room should be kept quiet, tidy, with fresh air and appropriate temperature. After children receive pediatric massage, they should avoid wind and eat raw or cold food.

3. When doing pediatric massage, doctors, pediatric masseurs or parents should keep their hands clean and remove rings, bracelets and other accessories. Nails should be trimmed regularly, and freshly cut nails must be filed flat with a nail file. When doing massage in winter, your hands should be kept warm.

4. If children are too hungry or too full, it will not be conducive to the effectiveness of pediatric massage. When a child is crying, you should first calm the child down and then perform pediatric massage.

5. Children's skin is delicate. Be careful not to scratch the skin during pediatric massage. Massage oil, talcum powder, edible starch and other media can generally be used for pediatric massage to prevent skin damage during massage.

The operating sequence of pediatric massage techniques: generally first the head and face, then the upper limbs, then the chest, abdomen, waist and back, and finally the lower limbs; you can also focus on the key points first and then the general points; or focus on the main points first and then the auxiliary points.
