Paroxysmal severe cough in children

Paroxysmal severe cough in children

The symptoms of coughing in each person's body are actually different. Some people have a continuous cough, but some people have an intermittent cough. But no matter what kind of cough occurs in children, it often makes parents very worried. Because children cannot take medicine casually when they have a cough, and the treatment effect is not particularly obvious. Many parents find that their babies have paroxysmal and severe coughs. What causes this?

Allergic cough in children is one of the common respiratory diseases in children. Because their bronchial mucosa is delicate and their ability to resist external pathogen infection is low, it is easy to get inflamed and cause coughing. Children's coughing is an effective way to eliminate phlegm and foreign objects in the respiratory tract, but frequent and difficult-to-control allergic coughs should be taken seriously. The treatment of allergic cough in children should avoid the abuse of antibiotics and hormones. The allergens can be identified by searching for them and desensitization treatment can be performed.

Disease characteristics

1. Children's cough often occurs when the weather changes from cold to hot or when the seasons change, or in the spring when the weather is warm and the flowers and pollen are high;

2. Children like to rub their eyes, nose or scalp;

3. Children sweat a lot when sleeping, are restless, and do not like to sleep lying flat, but prefer to sleep curled up;

4. Repeated attacks, more severe coughing, and paroxysmal coughing;

5. Children cough for a long time, usually more than 3 months;

6. Although the child has a cough[3], he does not have a fever and the sputum he coughs up is thin, white, and foamy;

7. When coughing, breathing is more rapid;

8. A baby's cough is usually more severe at night than during the day, and this may also occur in children's allergic coughs.

Generally speaking, if the following three symptoms occur, allergic rhinitis combined with allergic cough should be considered.

(1) Cough lasts for more than 4 weeks, often occurs or worsens at night and/or early morning, and is mainly dry cough;

(2) There are no clinical signs of infection, or long-term antibiotic treatment is ineffective;

(3) Diagnostic treatment with anti-asthma drugs is effective;
