Four month old baby has bloodshot eyes

For some adults who are under great work pressure, there should be red bloodshot eyes all year round, which is mainly an eye condition caused by lack of rest. However, some parents have discovered red bloodshot on the whites of their four-month-old babies' eyes. If a baby has red bloodshot, it is likely that there is a problem with the eyes. So what's going on when a four-month-old baby has red bloodshot eyes?

Why do children have red bloodshot eyes?

1. Iritis

Eyes are red and throbbing in the front. The redness of the eye will spread from the center of the eye to the surrounding area within 24-48 hours, but it usually does not spread to the other eye. Corticosteroid eye drops may be used, and if inflammation occurs, antibiotics may be used.

2. Subconjunctival hemorrhage

Sudden redness of one eye with no other symptoms. It is more common among the elderly. Violent coughing, vomiting, nosebleeds, etc. can induce subconjunctival hemorrhage, which usually heals itself within two weeks.

3. Other issues

If there is only a little bloodshot in the child's eyes, it may be that the child's blood vessels are relatively tender and the bleeding is caused by unintentional rubbing or pressure of the eyes with the hands. It is generally not a problem. It may also be caused by poor sleep, or the child's eyes may be infected by bacteria or dust.

In short, there are bloodshot eyes and blood vessels, and some people may be born with thicker blood vessels in their eyes than others. If the child's eyes are a little bloodshot, mothers should not worry too much.

However, if your eyes are dry, bloodshot, photophobic, tearful, or even red and swollen, these may be signs that there is something wrong with your body. If the entire eyeball is red, it may be conjunctivitis or other diseases. You need to send your child to the hospital or outpatient clinic for diagnosis and treatment in time.

People with sensitive constitutions are more likely to have red bloodshot eyes. Children have poor resistance. Red bloodshot eyes are mainly caused by the expansion of capillaries due to sudden stimulation. If your eyes are often bloodshot or suddenly have small-scale congestion, you can boil 1/3 or 1/2 fresh lotus leaf in water and drink it. Lotus leaves can relieve summer heat, clear away heat, promote the flow of clear yang, disperse blood stasis and stop bleeding. You can also use moxa sticks to moxibustion the three acupoints of Zusanli, Quchi and Hegu twice a week. It can replenish kidney qi, clear away heat and dampness, harmonize the Ying and Wei, and improve eyesight and remove cataracts.

To sum up, when the baby's eyes suffer from certain diseases or some unexpected factors occur, it is easy to cause red bloodshot eyes. Generally speaking, subconjunctival hemorrhage, iritis, rubbing the eyes, poor sleep and pressure on the eyes can all cause red bloodshot eyes.
