Deciduous teeth and incisors caries

Deciduous teeth and incisors caries

Deciduous teeth are teeth that erupt before replacement teeth and are also teeth with relatively weak resistance. Generally speaking, if a child's diet is too sweet, it will lead to dental problems such as caries. Of course, after tooth decay occurs, the teeth must be treated promptly, because tooth decay will have a great impact on the oral health of the child. So, how to deal with caries in deciduous teeth?

1. What causes caries in deciduous teeth?

Generally speaking, a child's first deciduous tooth erupts at around six months old, and it is almost impossible for a child around six months old to eat too much sugar. In other words, most caries in deciduous teeth may be caused by improper breastfeeding methods. For infants and young children, breast milk is their main way of obtaining nutrients. After the eruption of deciduous teeth, frequent feedings at night may cause deciduous tooth caries in infants.

2. What harm can caries in deciduous teeth cause?

1. Affect the baby's appearance

If infants and young children develop caries in their deciduous teeth, the nerves inside can be easily damaged because the deciduous teeth are relatively fragile and the enamel covering them is relatively thin. This will make infants and young children afraid to chew due to severe pain. Chewing on one side for a long time may affect the development of the baby's facial bones and affect the baby's appearance.

2. Malnutrition

If babies are unable to speak when they develop caries in their primary teeth, they cannot express their wishes and may resist using their teeth. This will lead to infants and young children being unable to eat normally and suffering from malnutrition, which will seriously affect their development.

3. Affect permanent teeth

If caries in deciduous teeth are not treated in time, it is likely to induce inflammation, which is likely to develop deep into the baby's gums. Before permanent teeth grow out, they are deep in the gums. These inflammations may affect the development of permanent teeth and cause permanent tooth enamel hypoplasia, which increases the chance of permanent teeth suffering from caries.

3. Caries of deciduous incisors

The treatment method for tooth decay is generally to use filling therapy. The steps are to first remove all the carious tissue infected by bacteria, and then fill the caries hole with materials.

The first one is silver-mercury alloy filling material, which is black in color. Its advantages are good wear resistance and high hardness, but its disadvantages are obvious. Because it is black in color, its aesthetics is poor. Silver-mercury alloy filling material is not used now.

The second type is glass ion filling material. Its disadvantage is that it has poor wear resistance and is not wear-resistant, but its color is closer to that of teeth, so children’s deciduous teeth can generally be filled with this material.

The third type is the most commonly used composite nano-resin filling material. Its hardness and color are close to those of natural teeth and it is the most commonly used filling material now. We all need to develop good habits.
