Diet for children with intussusception

Diet for children with intussusception

Intussusception in children is a relatively common disease problem. This disease is caused by the frequent crying of children. This disease is exclusive to boys, so among very young children, it is important to avoid severe crying. Once intussusception occurs in children, surgical treatment is required, and attention should be paid to the child's diet after the surgery. Diet for children with intussusception_How to feed children with intussusception?

1. How to eat after intussusception in children

After children suffer from intussusception, the dietary principle should be: from less to more, from thin to thick, and only one kind of food should be eaten each time. After the condition gradually recovers, the amount of food can be increased to a variety of courses. While paying attention to the diet, you should also pay attention to your child's bowel movements. The nature of the stool is very important. If the child has constipation, diarrhea, abdominal distension, abdominal pain, or vomiting, he should return to the hospital immediately. The baby should eat light food. In order not to increase the burden on the baby's stomach, the food should be light and easy to digest and nutritious. Foods like egg custard, soft noodles, and soft porridge are relatively easy to digest, so don't feed them too much each time.

2. Causes of intussusception in children

1. Dietary changes. For babies who have just started eating complementary foods, the change in diet can easily cause intussusception, and the high incidence period of this disease is between 4 and 10 months. This is because the child is unable to adapt to the stimulation to the intestines caused by the changed diet, which causes intestinal dysfunction and intussusception.

2. Ileocecal factors. During infancy, the child's ileocecal valve is relatively thick, the ileocecal part is easy to move, and the small intestinal mesentery is long. In many babies, the ileal valve will protrude about one centimeter into the cecum. This area is rich in lymphatic tissue, so once there is inflammation or food stimulation, it is easy to cause edema and congestion. During the baby's intestinal peristalsis, the ileocecal valve will be pushed forward, and the intestinal tract will inevitably be pulled, causing intussusception.

3. Viral infection. Some viruses such as rotavirus can easily cause acute intussusception in children.

4. Intestinal spasm and autonomic nervous system disorders. When a child's intestines are stimulated by various factors and cause spasms, the rhythm of intestinal peristalsis will be disrupted, which may cause intussusception in children.

5. Genetic factors. If your relatives have a history of intussusception, be careful about the possibility of intussusception in your baby.

6. Other reasons. Congenital blind tube malformation and certain organic diseases may be the causes of acute intussusception in children.
