Symptoms of baby's eyelid hemangioma

Symptoms of baby's eyelid hemangioma

Because the immune organs of newborns are not fully developed, they are easily harmed by the outside world or diseases. Among them, hemangioma is a common benign tumor that occurs frequently in newborns. Some babies develop hemangiomas after birth, while others are even born with them. And its distribution is irregular and can spread all over the body. Among them, the one growing on the eyelids is the most troublesome to treat.

1. Hemangioma is a very common skin disease in newborns. This skin disease has neither the risk of infection nor the possibility of worsening because hemangioma is a benign skin disease. But we all know that hemangiomas can grow in any part of a baby's body, and the most difficult to treat is the hemangioma that grows on the baby's eyes.

2. In the early stage, it is mostly flat and slightly raised, with bright red or purple color, and the boundary is particularly clear. It is easy to fade if pressed. Deeper complications may also occur, such as cavernous hemangioma, which is particularly soft and elastic. It will increase significantly when the baby cries. The disease needs to be treated actively. Drugs can be used for treatment, such as prednisolone and Corningone. They should be used once a month. Generally, 1-3 times of medication can be effective, and may even completely disappear, achieving satisfactory therapeutic effects and alleviating the baby's condition.

3. In fact, hemangioma is not as scary as its name sounds, because this skin disease now has good treatment methods. The most common way is to remove this part of the skin and transplant normal skin from other parts of the body. But everyone knows that the eyes are the most vulnerable part of the body. If the doctor is not careful during the removal, it may cause blindness in the baby to a great extent.

4. Therefore, hemangioma growing on the eyelids can be treated by the second method, which is laser therapy which is developing very rapidly at this stage. Laser therapy causes very little damage to human skin. It only destroys those extra capillaries. Although this method sometimes leaves scars on the skin, there seems to be no better choice for treating hemangiomas on the eyelids.

5. Superficial skin hemangioma, commonly known as birthmark. This type of hemangioma generally grows, with the peak growth periods being during the fetal period and adolescence. The main treatments currently include oral vasoconstrictor drugs, local injection of sclerosing agents, and brachytherapy. Generally speaking, hemangiomas on baby's eyelids will not affect their vision. In most cases, they will gradually shrink or disappear during the growth process.
