What should I look for when buying underwear for my baby?

1. Look at the label

Baby clothes produced by regular manufacturers will have detailed information about the clothes, such as fabric composition and content, product implementation standards, care labels, product safety categories and manufacturer information. Please note that clothing for infants and young children under 3 years old must be marked "Infant and Young Children Products" (Class A) and must be marked "Do Not Dry Clean" or have a circular cross pattern.

2. Look at the fabric

It is best to choose clothes made of pure cotton, modal, and bamboo fiber fabrics.

3. Look at the color

When choosing baby clothes, it is best to choose light colors with fewer prints. Because children's clothing with darker and brighter colors uses more dyes and auxiliaries in the printing and dyeing process, it may cause skin allergies and discomfort in babies when worn close to the skin. In addition, dark clothing fades easily, and babies like to bite clothing, so they can easily ingest dyes into their stomachs, which is not good for their health.

4. Look at the details

Check whether the clothes are finely made, whether there are many loose threads, and whether the edges are smooth. Generally, the labels and sewing surfaces on baby clothes are on the outside of the clothes, and the side that is worn against the skin is smoother.

5. Smell

When buying baby clothes, be sure to smell it close to your nose to see if there are any irritating odors on the clothes, such as mold, gasoline and kerosene, fishy smell, etc. If so, it may be the residual chemicals added during the production process of the clothes that cause formaldehyde and pH value to exceed the standard. This kind of baby clothes must be purchased with caution.

Warm reminder: It is best to wash newly bought clothes when you get home, and then dry them in the sun before giving them to your baby to ensure they are clean and safe.

Fabrics suitable for baby's close-fitting clothing

1. Pure cotton

Clothes made of pure cotton do not produce any black smoke when ignited, and after burning they become light and fluffy, with the ash being off-white. However, if they are blended, they will produce problems such as black smoke, oil dripping or odor.

2. Modal

Modal fiber turns into gray powder after burning and is easy to crush.

3. Bamboo fiber

After burning, natural bamboo fiber turns into fine, soft, gray-black flocs with a smell of burning paper; while adhesive fibers (including bamboo pulp fibers) turn into gray-white ash after burning.
