How to deal with the newborn's vulva

In our lives, many women will have some gynecological diseases just after they are born. You will see some secretions on their diapers. This secretion is especially like menstruation and leucorrhea. In fact, this is a phenomenon caused by the development of the uterus and vagina during the growth and development of the child. This phenomenon is relatively normal. So how should the vulva of the newborn be treated?

Newborns often develop some "gynecological diseases" within one month, the most common of which are leucorrhea and menstruation in baby girls. Some baby girls often have white discharge or blood in their diapers within a week after birth. This is because the fetus lives in the mother's body for 10 months, absorbing nutrients from the mother and also absorbing more female hormones. The baby is affected by the mother's sex hormones, and the uterus and vagina have developed, causing the vaginal epithelial cells to proliferate, the endometrium to thicken, and the epithelial cells to fall off and form leucorrhea. After delivery, the sex hormones are interrupted, the endometrium falls off, and menstrual-like substances such as blood streaks and blood clots appear.

However, this physiological "gynecological disease" is only a short-lived phenomenon. When the sex hormones in the baby's body are completely excreted, the leucorrhea and menstrual discharge will stop naturally. Parents only need to observe carefully to determine whether the baby has any infection or trauma. Breast enlargement and milk secretion are also common in newborns, not just in baby girls but can also occur in baby boys.

Because progesterone and prolactin absorbed in the mother's body exist at the same time, progesterone is excreted faster while prolactin is excreted slower. The former cannot inhibit the latter, so the latter causes the newborn's breasts to develop and enlarge, and even secrete milk. In this regard, parents should only clean their breasts frequently to keep them clean and hygienic. When prolactin disappears completely, which takes about 20 to 30 days, the baby's breasts will shrink and no milk will be secreted. Do not squeeze the breasts to avoid skin damage, and do not use irritating medications or external application on your own. Otherwise, infection may occur and even spread to the whole body, causing high fever, convulsions, and sepsis.
