Early symptoms of brain tumors in adolescents

Early symptoms of brain tumors in adolescents

In our lives, many teenagers overuse their brains. Because our society is a society that competes for knowledge, most teenagers want to learn more knowledge while they are young, which is particularly prone to overusing their brains. After overusing their brains, if they do not adjust and rest in time, they may develop tumors in their brains. So what are the early symptoms of adolescent tumors?

Early symptoms of brain tumors in adolescents

Brain tumors can be benign or malignant. Therefore, there is no need to panic when you are diagnosed with a brain tumor. Some brain tumors grow slowly, but others may grow rapidly and invade nearby tissue. Since the brain is an important organ that controls various activities of the human body, the presence of a tumor will naturally cause some symptoms. But studies have found that symptoms of brain tumors in adolescents can easily be ignored or misdiagnosed as sinusitis or even migraine symptoms. The following is a list of early symptoms of this disease for your reference.

Common Symptoms of Brain Tumors

The severity of a brain tumor depends on its location and growth pattern. Of all these types, astrocytomas, brainstem gliomas, and ependymomas are the most common. Ependymomas are tumors that develop in the lining of the brain's ventricles or the central canal of the spinal cord, while gliomas arise from glial cells, the same cells that the body uses to build myelin, the insulation of peripheral nerves. Astrocytomas arise from astrocytes, which are a subtype of glial cells. Because the brain has limited space, tumors can destroy these important tissues and create excess pressure. The swelling and fluid buildup around the tumor can cause symptoms. Some tumors grow very slowly, often taking several years to show signs. Slow-growing tumors usually develop symptoms gradually.

Brain tumors are uncommon in adolescents. Adults usually have secondary brain tumors, while children usually have primary brain tumors. The following early symptoms can easily be misdiagnosed as migraines or stress:

Frequent headaches;

Neck and arm pain;

Blurred vision, double vision, vision loss, etc.;

Reduced memory ability;

Headache when bending over;

Loss of muscle control.

Teens can recover quickly if symptoms are caught and treated before they become severe. If parents or teachers find that their children have the above symptoms, they should not ignore them. There are many medical measures available to accurately diagnose brain tumors. Such as CT scans and magnetic resonance imaging technologies. Brain tumor treatment mainly involves surgery to remove the tumor, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy to kill cancer cells. If your child has blurred vision, they should also see an ophthalmologist and receive treatment based on the severity of the symptoms.
