Massage techniques for children with constipation

Children's digestive systems are not fully developed yet, and they can easily suffer from constipation due to food accumulation. If children have difficulty defecating, it may lead to loss of appetite, or even abdominal distension, abdominal pain, anorectal lesions and other problems, so parents should still pay attention to it. When children suffer from constipation, general digestive drugs take a long time to take effect. At this time, it is recommended that parents can use massage to help their children quickly solve the problem of constipation.

1. Clear the large intestine. The large intestine point in pediatric massage is located on the outside of the child's index finger near the thumb end, which is on a straight line from the tip of the index finger to the base of the thumb. When performing massage, you can use the tip of your finger to push lightly, quickly and steadily from the child's base of the thumb to the tip of the index finger, repeatedly pushing back and forth 200 times.

2. Press and rub the Boyangchi point. The Boyangchi point for children is the Zhigou point. It is located on the back of the child's wrist joint, 3 inches above the midpoint of the transverse wrist line. When massaging, use the tip of your thumb or middle finger to apply force and rub the Yangchi point on your shoulder 100 times.

3. Massage the abdomen. Place the child flat on the bed. Use the base of your palm to apply pressure. For younger children, you can put your index and middle fingers together and use the fingertips to apply pressure. Massage the child's abdomen in a clockwise direction for about 5 minutes. Here, you must pay attention to the direction of massage when performing massage. Only by massaging the abdomen in a clockwise direction can it help relieve the symptoms of constipation in children.

4. Massage the Tianshu and Zusanli points. The Tianshu point is located 2 inches away from the navel, one on each side; the Zusanli point is located 3 inches below the knee, also one on each side. During childbirth, these four acupoints should be massaged and stimulated with the thumb or middle finger for 50-100 times each.

5. Guiwei point: Guiwei point is located at the coccyx of the child's buttocks. By stimulating the Guiwei point, you can regulate the Du meridian and regulate the function of the large intestine, which can effectively relieve the symptoms of constipation in children. When performing massage, use the tip of your thumb or middle finger to massage the end of the child's coccyx 100 times.

How to prevent constipation in children

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the reason children suffer from constipation is because of their hot constitution. Therefore, children with constipation can eat more melon fruits, such as watermelon, cantaloupe, Hami melon, etc., to eliminate the heat in their bodies. If your child doesn’t like the taste of this type of fruit, you can sprinkle some condensed milk, yogurt or ice cream on the fruit so that the rich sweet milk flavor can cover the melon flavor. In addition, parents should often cook some mung bean and coix seed porridge for their children, which can also help relieve fever and promote bowel movements.
