Can dopamine deficiency cause ADHD?

Can dopamine deficiency cause ADHD?

It is not uncommon to have children with ADHD. Many children with ADHD have been unable to concentrate on one thing. Even when they are studying, they look around and cannot stop. Their lack of self-control often worries many parents. Why is the incidence of ADHD in children so high? Some people say that if the body lacks dopamine, it will cause ADHD. So can dopamine deficiency cause ADHD?

Neurobiochemical and psychopharmacological studies have found an imbalance of neurochemical transmitters in the brain, such as low dopamine and norepinephrine function and decreased 5-HT function in the patient's blood and urine. Some scholars have proposed the dopamine, norepinephrine and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) hypothesis of ADHD, but no hypothesis can fully explain the cause and mechanism of ADHD.

Treatment and care of ADHD

Drug therapy

Drug therapy can only be used when the baby's ADHD is more serious, such as being unable to study and causing adverse effects on the family or social order. Generally speaking, commonly used drugs are amphetamine, pemoline, etc., but it should be noted that the drugs used by patients must be under the professional guidance of a doctor.

Environmental therapy

As the name suggests, this treatment method is related to the baby's environment.

1. Give appropriate encouragement: slowly correct the baby's hyperactive behavior, gradually improve the baby's concentration on doing things and ability to focus on learning, and give the baby more praise and encouragement.

2. Adjust the family atmosphere: Improve the family environment, adjust the family atmosphere, and promote harmonious family relationships. Otherwise, bad family factors can easily cause the baby to become overly nervous, hyperactive, and physically and mentally restless.

3. Treat your child correctly: Parents should have a clear understanding of ADHD, understand its nature, and treat their baby rationally. Parents should educate their children correctly. They should be calm and strict with their babies. They should not beat or scold them arbitrarily or over-indulge them. In addition, it is best to take the initiative to contact the teacher frequently to understand the baby's condition and work together to improve the baby's condition.

4. Cultivate living habits: Teach children to develop good living habits and routines to promote concentration. Pay attention to details and develop habits early. For example, children should be trained to go to bed and get up on time, and not watch TV while eating.

5. Let your children participate in more activities: Parents can take their babies to participate in more activities, which can not only strengthen their bodies, but also make full use of free time and allow babies to release excess energy.
