Symptoms of poor kidney function in babies

Symptoms of poor kidney function in babies

In our lives, many babies have poor kidney function when they are just born. My mother can judge based on the baby's urination. For babies with poor kidneys, their hair looks yellower and not very dense. Sometimes they also lose their hair. So what are the symptoms of babies with poor kidneys?

1. Symptoms of poor kidney function in babies

1.1 Changes in urine volume

A normal person urinates 1000-2000 ml per day, with an average of 1500 ml. Whether the amount of urine increases or decreases, it may be a manifestation of kidney disease. Especially for normal people, who rarely urinate at night, if you find that you have to get up several times at night and do not drink much water before going to bed, you should be more alert to kidney disease.

1.2 Changes in urine characteristics

The normal urine color is transparent light yellow. If you drink less water or urinate for the first time in the morning, the color will be slightly darker. If your urine is red or contains a lot of foam, you should go to the nephrology department for a check-up.

1.3 Edema

The kidneys are the organs that metabolize water in the human body. If the kidneys are not healthy, water will accumulate. Some people find that their eyelids, feet, and legs are swollen when they wake up in the morning. This may be a kidney problem.

1.4. Digestive tract symptoms such as nausea and vomiting

When kidney disease develops to the end stage, it will affect gastrointestinal function, leading to symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite. Therefore, if these symptoms occur, in addition to seeing a gastroenterologist, you should also pay attention to ruling out kidney disease.

2. What is the reason for the baby's kidney problems?

2.1 Drug Injury

Children's renal function has not yet fully developed, therefore, drug-induced renal damage is particularly likely to occur in pediatric patients. In addition, people who already have renal dysfunction, those with allergies, and those who are dehydrated are also prone to drug-induced kidney damage.

2.2 Damage caused by vascular nephropathy

Vascular disease causes renal hypoxia. If it is not discovered in time or treated thoroughly, it can easily lead to renal insufficiency.

2.3 Other diseases

Systemic diseases, obstructive nephropathy, toxic nephropathy, etc., if not controlled in time, can also lead to damage to renal units and poor renal function. Such as purpura nephritis.

2.4. Damage caused by infectious diseases

This is also one of the common causes of poor kidney function. Infectious diseases attack the patient's kidneys, leading to poor prognosis and poor renal function. Such as chronic pyelonephritis, renal tuberculosis, etc.
