What should I do if my child always likes to watch TV?

With the improvement of people's living standards, TV has become a must-have item in every household. This has led to children developing the habit of watching TV at a very young age, and once they see it, they are very fascinated. Some children cannot leave the TV even when they are eating or doing homework. This makes many parents very distressed. Watching TV for a long time also has a lot of effects on the baby's eyes. What should I do if my child always loves to watch TV?

Limit TV viewing time

It is necessary to set rules. Only by setting rules for children can we prevent them from doing whatever they want and developing bad habits of watching TV for a long time.

For example, let your children know how long they can watch TV after finishing certain tasks every day; they cannot watch TV while eating; they cannot watch TV while doing homework, etc. Once the rules are established, they must be adhered to. Then you can make an agreement with your child to allow him to watch more programs that are beneficial to children during weekends and holidays. In addition, before starting to watch TV, tell your child that he must abide by the agreement, agreeing on how long to watch today, whether it is this program or an episode of a cartoon. Moreover, before the specified time arrives, it is best to give the child appropriate reminders in advance, telling him that the TV watching time is almost over, so as to give the child a psychological buffer period. Since children's eyes are not fully developed yet, they should be limited to watching TV for no more than 40 minutes at a time.

Divert your child's attention

If the child does not listen to the parents, parents may try to divert the child's attention. For example, let him do what he likes most, such as playing with toys.

Xinxin's mother said that every time her child stopped watching TV and couldn't be persuaded, she would turn off the TV first and tell the child that the TV also needed to rest for a while. Then she would tell the child what they had just watched on TV and ask some questions. This can not only cultivate children's thinking ability and language expression ability, but also achieve the purpose of preventing children from watching TV for a long time.

Take your children outdoors more often

In fact, many children are addicted to TV because they stay at home for a long time. Parents may wish to take their children to participate in more outdoor activities, which may help their children get rid of their dependence on TV.
