What to do if your child keeps squinting

The problem of children squinting their eyes cannot be ignored. It is an eye disease. Some children are born with this condition, but most children develop it due to acquired bad habits. This then causes the eyelids to constantly contract, eventually leading to the child's symptom of squinting his eyes. Others are caused by bacterial infection. In fact, squinting is also related to mental state. The following is a detailed study on the cause of this disease.

1. If a child always likes to blink, it does not necessarily mean he has an eye disease. You should also be wary of tics. Common reasons for children's blinking eyes are: First, childhood tics: Children with tics often show sudden, involuntary contraction movements of certain parts of the body, such as frowning, twisting mouth, shrugging shoulders and inattention. Some children will also make strange noises, or even swear and use dirty words at the same time. This condition is medically called childhood attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and foul language syndrome. Frequent blinking is also a manifestation of tics, which is related to mental factors such as mental tension and emotional instability. This disease seriously affects children's normal life, study and mental health.

Second, inflammatory stimulation: It may be caused by infections such as bacteria, viruses, chlamydia, such as conjunctivitis, keratitis, etc. In addition to increased blinking, there are also symptoms such as: red eyes, itching, increased secretions, tears, etc. Xiaoxin belongs to this situation. Third, congenital inverted eyelids and trichiasis: Some children are born with inverted eyelids (medically known as eyelids), which causes the eyelashes to fall on the surface of the eyeball, irritating the cornea (the surface of the black eyeball) and causing tears. In this case, entropion of the lower eyelid is the most common, and careful parents can discover it. Fourth, eye fatigue blinking: including visual fatigue, such as refractive errors, especially uncorrected hyperopia, myopia, and astigmatism, which cause visual fatigue of the eyes. This is a protective reflex that adjusts the curvature of the eyeball through continuous blinking, allowing for clear vision. Fifth, neurogenic blinking: It is caused by the frequent contraction of the nerve fibers that control the orbicularis oculi muscle after being stimulated. Sixth, habitual blinking: Some children have a history of frequent blinking due to one of the above-mentioned causes. After treatment and the cause is eliminated, they still retain the habit of frequent blinking. Some children, because they usually don't pay attention, like to imitate others by blinking frequently, which results in a habit of frequent blinking.

2. There are several reasons why children like to blink. One is inflammatory stimulation, the second is ADHD, and the third is habit. Please pay attention to whether your child has other eye symptoms. If he cannot blink due to lack of vitamins, it may be a habit problem. You should remind him often and let him control himself. This is a habit problem and it depends on personal control ability and perseverance.
