What is the cause of the child's swollen face?

Children's skin is relatively tender and generally will not have any problems unless affected by external factors. However, there are some exceptions, such as rashes and prickly heat on children, which are more or less related to the parents' lack of care. Of course, this type of skin disease can be cured as long as it is treated properly. So, what is the reason for the child's swollen face?

My child's face suddenly swelled up, what happened?

1. Allergies

If a child's face suddenly swells up, it may be related to allergies. Parents need to carefully observe whether the child has other symptoms besides the swelling, such as local congestion, redness, light blood spots, burning sensation, etc.

2. Mumps

Mumps is a common respiratory infectious disease among children and adolescents and also occurs in adults. The disease is caused by the mumps virus. The swelling usually starts from below the ears and then spreads to the face, with the swelling being more obvious in the lower part of the face.

3. Abnormal renal function

Edema is the most obvious symptom of kidney disease in children. Edema often starts from the face and eyelids and gradually spreads to the whole body. Simple kidney disease is often characterized by severe edema, and the skin feels sunken when pressed with fingers. In severe cases, the serous cavity is involved, resulting in pleural effusion, ascites, hydrocele and scrotal edema, which can lead to difficulty breathing, diarrhea or vomiting.

What to do if your child's face is swollen

1. Pay attention to whether the baby's eyelids are swollen, whether the lip color is normal, and whether his mental state and complexion are good. If swelling starts in the face and then spreads to the whole body, there is a high possibility that you have kidney disease, but it may also be acute nephritis or kidney disease.

2. If the baby's facial swelling is not too serious, you can use some simple and easy massage methods to restore it, such as: gently pressing the cheeks with your fingertips. From the side of the earlobe to the side of the nose and cheek bone, press when the baby exhales, and relax when the baby inhales (left and right cheeks). Do this 10 times.
