Can the baby be full with clear milk?

When taking care of their children, it is inevitable that they will communicate or compare with each other. I often hear many mothers say that their breast milk is of very good quality and very thick, and their baby's urine volume is relatively large, but their own breast milk is very light, and the baby is often not full. This depends on the type or the physical constitution of the mothers.

Methods/Steps

Foremilk and hindmilk

After one month, many breastfeeding mothers will find that the color of their breast milk appears whiter, and looks a little thin and light, as if not as "thick" as cow's milk. Some mothers will therefore worry that there is something wrong with their milk, that it lacks nutrition, and that the baby will not be full. In fact, for most mothers, this worry is unnecessary. This is mainly because the protein and fat particles in mature breast milk are smaller, and it is not nutritionally poor. Compared with milk and formula milk, the nutrients, proportions and disease-resistant factors it contains are incomparable to the former.

Mature breast milk is indeed divided into foremilk and hindmilk, and the nutritional components are also different. Foremilk is the first milk produced during each breastfeeding, that is, the milk that comes out in the first two or three minutes. It has a high water content and can provide the baby with abundant water, protein, lactose, vitamins, inorganic salts and water, as well as immunoglobulins with anti-cancer ability. Hind milk: contains more fat and appears whiter than foremilk. During breastfeeding, it can provide the baby with a lot of calories and help all aspects of growth.

Love TIP:

When breastfeeding, let the baby eat enough, don't set a time limit, and don't rush to switch breasts. This is the only way for the baby to get a balanced amount of foremilk and hindmilk, ensuring comprehensive nutrition.

Improve milk quality through a proper diet. Although “thin milk” does not mean bad milk quality, in general, the superiority of breast milk is unmatched by cow’s milk and formula milk. The nutrient content of each mother's breast milk is indeed different, which is mainly related to the mother's diet.

1. The dietary allocation during lactation should refer to the recommended supply of my country's Nutrition Society, increase the supply of various nutrients, especially high-quality protein, calcium, zinc, iron, iodine and B vitamins, and pay attention to the appropriate proportion between the nutrients, such as the heat supply ratio of protein, fat and carbohydrates should be 13%-15%, 27% and 58%-60% respectively.

2. Pay attention to calcium and vitamin D intake. If a nursing mother is calcium deficient, in order to ensure a constant calcium content in breast milk, her own bone calcium will be used, which will cause bone softening, osteoporosis, back and leg pain, etc.

3. The water-soluble fiber in breast milk, such as vitamins B1, B2, C, etc., may change due to changes in the content in the mother's diet; the same is true for fat-soluble vitamin A. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to reasonable supplementation in the diet of breastfeeding mothers.

A recent survey on Chinese mothers' breast milk showed that in addition to low calcium content, the fat content, zinc and DHA content were relatively low. Therefore, appropriate amounts of edible oil, nuts, butter, animal fat, marine fish, etc. should be added to promote the baby's brain development and retina formation, and improve immunity.

In addition, the sodium and chloride content in breast milk is significantly high, which is related to the excessive salt intake of the mother, which is not conducive to the kidney development of the newborn. Excessive salt intake should be avoided. If mothers are picky eaters, especially vegetarians, and their nutrients are not comprehensive, it will have a negative impact on the baby's nutrition.
