Can I turn on the air conditioner when my baby has a fever?

We all know that the weather is very hot in summer, so many families will turn on the air conditioner in summer to release the temperature in the house. However, for some families with babies, it is not suitable to use the air conditioner, because the gas discharged by the air conditioner will cause harm to the baby's body, and the baby has been in an air-conditioned environment, which will also cause damage to the growth and development of bones. So can the air conditioner be turned on when the baby has a fever?

It is best for babies with fever to stay in an air-conditioned room on hot days

It is very common for babies to have fever in summer. Some babies have fever every summer. The fever can be reduced with proper treatment without injections or medication. But recently, when babies have fever, everyone thinks that it is caused by the air conditioner. In fact, the air conditioner cannot be blamed.

Babies with fever need to be cooled down. If the surrounding temperature is high, how can the body temperature be lowered? Therefore, babies with fever can be helped to cool down in an air-conditioned room. However, parents only think that the baby's fever is caused by the air conditioning, which is a misunderstanding!

The baby's body temperature regulation function has not yet fully developed. The temperature difference between inside and outside the room is too large. Frequent going in and out is one of the main reasons for the baby's fever recently. When your baby has a fever, do not turn off the air conditioner in the room, as this will not help cool him down. Doors and windows can be opened at regular intervals. Some babies have a fever at night, but the fever goes away after taking appropriate antipyretics, and they also don't have a fever the next day. This is probably summer fever.

What to do if your child has a fever

1. Maintain air circulation in the home: If the home has air conditioning, maintain the room temperature between 25-27℃. You can place the child in an air-conditioned room or blow an electric fan around him to slowly lower his body temperature, which will make the child feel more comfortable. But if the limbs are cold and the patient is shivering violently, it means that the patient needs warmth, so he should be covered with a blanket.

2. Take off too many clothes: If the baby's limbs and hands and feet are warm and the whole body is sweating, it means that the baby needs to dissipate heat, so he can wear fewer clothes.

3. Warm water bath: Undress the baby and rub the whole body with a warm water (37℃) towel. This will dilate the blood vessels in the baby's skin and release body qi. In addition, when water vapor evaporates from the body surface, it will also absorb body heat.

4. Sleeping with an ice pillow: It helps to dissipate heat, but it is not recommended for younger children because it is difficult for young children to turn their bodies, and the ice pillow can easily cause local overcooling or hypothermia. You can also use a cooling patch. When the water in the gelatinous substance of the cooling patch evaporates, it can take away the heat and will not cause excessive cooling.

5. Drink more water to help sweating and prevent dehydration. Water has the function of regulating temperature, which can lower body temperature and replenish water lost in the baby's body.

6. Use antipyretics: When the core temperature (rectal temperature or ear temperature) of an infant or young child exceeds 38.5°C, you can use antipyretic solutions or suppositories appropriately.

In summer, mothers can feel free to turn on the air conditioner for their babies. As long as you pay attention to the above matters, babies with fever can also stay cool in the summer!
